Przygodowa powieść dla młodzieży w konwencji science-fiction. Solidna, radosna, pełna normalnego humoru i ciepła, pozytywna powieść na dobre i gorsze dni. Bohaterami jest trójka nastolatków: Ion Soggo oraz bliźniacy Alka i Alek Roj, którzy spotykają się podczas wakacji na stacji badawczej „Pierwszy Zwiadowca” – sztucznej planetoidzie, gdzie pracują ich rodzice. Rojowie są Ziemianami, zaś Ion Saturnianinem. Opiekuje się nimi android Robik. Mechanoplaneta ma przetestować możliwość lotu wielkiego statku kosmicznego poza granice Układu Słonecznego. Pewnego dnia w kolejną misją badawczą startują dwa kosmoloty, których załogi stanowią wszyscy naukowcy pracujący na Zwiadowcy. Nastolatki zostają same pod opieką maszyn. Niespodziewanie na skutek kolizji z rzeką meteorów awarii ulega jeden z kosmolotów. Na ratunek rusza mu drugi kosmolot, niestety, także zostaje wciągnięty w strumień. Jedynej pomocy mogą zagrożonym dorosłym udzielić nasi młodzi bohaterowie. Skąd wziął się tytuł książki? Otóż jej akcja toczy się w odległości dziesięciu tysięcy milionów kilometrów od Słońca! Dlaczego na stacji badawczej znalazły się dzieci? Dlatego, że planowane w przyszłości dalekie loty kosmiczne będą trwać wiele lat – postanowiono więc, że będą w nich uczestniczyć całe rodziny – wraz z dziećmi (które po latach kosmicznych podróży dorosną i staną się pełnoprawnymi astronautami). Dalsze losy bohaterów „Ci z Dziesiątego Tysiąca” (1962) znajdziemy w wydanej dwa lata później (1964), kolejnej powieści Jerzego Broszkiewicza „Oko Centaura”, w której zmierzą się z jeszcze większym wyzwaniem – z próbą nawiązania kontaktu z obca cywilizacją. Retrofuturyzm w całej okazałości. Książka miała wiele wydań i ogromne nakłady. Przykładowo wydanie IV z 1969 roku miało nakład blisko 100 tysięcy egzemplarzy (dokładnie: 92235 egzemplarzy). This book focuses on the so-called shadow education system of private supplementary tutoring. In parts of East Asia it has long existed on a large scale and it is now becoming increasingly evident in other parts of Asia and in Africa, Europe and North America. Pupils commonly receive fee-free education in public schools and then at the end of the day and/or during week-ends and vacations supplementary tutoring in the same subjects on a fee-paying basis.Supplementary private tutoring can have positive dimensions. It helps students to cover the curriculum, provides a structured occupation for pupils outside school hours, and provides incomes for the tutors. However, tutoring may also have negative dimensions. If left to market forces, tutoring is likely to maintain and increase social inequalities, and it can create excessive pressure for young people who have inadequate time for non-academic activities. Especially problematic are situations in which school teachers provide extra tutoring in exchange for fees from their regular pupils.This book begins by surveying the scale, nature and implications of the shadow education system in a range of settings. It then identifies possible government responses to the phenomenon and encourages a proactive approach to designing appropriate policies.

Zaczęło się pechowo – nastoletni bohater książki zaspał na klasową wycieczkę na Księżyc. Ale próba dogonienia kolegów na własną rękę to dopiero pierwsze z wielu wydarzeń w tym pełnym wrażeń dniu. Akcja stopniowo nabiera tempa. Główny bohater książki – Paweł Kosmal – musi mierzyć z kolejnymi, coraz trudniejszymi wyzwaniami. Pojawiają się też coraz to nowe interesujące postacie różnej płci, wieku i narodowości. Książka zachęca do myślenia i do opanowania w sytuacjach trudnych. Uczy, że potrzebna jest wiedza, i że nic nie przychodzi łatwo. Ale jeśli ma się wiadomości, odwagę i charakter – można osiągnąć rzeczy, jakich samemu by się po sobie nie spodziewało. Od pierwszego wydania tej książki w 1970 roku minęło już sporo czasu. Jednak powieść ta się nie zestarzała. Uwodzi wartką, zaskakującą akcją, bezpośrednim językiem i pozytywnym przesłaniem. Książka zawiera 10 świetnych, oryginalnych ilustracji pochodzących z jej pierwszego wydania. Ich autorem jest Włodzimierz Terechowicz (jedna z tych ilustracji stanowi okładkę), który je wykonał rzadko stosowaną techniką plastyczną – techniką tak zwanego odprysku (rodzaj druku wklęsłego), a odświeżył cyfrowo (na podstawie papierowego wydania) Marcin Labus. Powieści i sztuki teatralne Jerzego Broszkiewicza przetłumaczono na kilkanaście języków, a ich łączny nakład osiągnął kilka milionów egzemplarzy. „Mój księżycowy pech” jest jednym z jego najbardziej udanych i najpopularniejszych utworów.
