This book is about sex. Our own sex. Sex is a problem: The problem to get more sex.In the stone age, people used to solve this problem using the easy way. If you were a man looking for an intercourse, you just had to “ go hunting” (hunting a girl, of course!). The girl used to awake in your cave, just to notice she was officially married (with you). Nothing else was needed.Perhaps some inquisitive reader may be wondering about her feelings.... Feelings? What was that? Well, the fact is that the relationships between the sexes started to be more complicated, and more, and more...until now. We are living in a world that has changed its points of view dramatically about sex. However, there is something that every age in the history of the world had: Manners. Good manners, bad manners, improper behavior and lack of sensibility are characteristics of all human society. We are not exceptions to this rule.

"In the wake of 9/11, confronting race relations in American is as daunting as it is necessary. Race Manners shows us how we can begin a civilized, meaningful dialogue-not with evasive abstractions, but with practicality and candor. The second edition, completely revised and updated, is a guide to improving race relations."--From source other than the Library of Congress.

The first sex manual 'Kama Sutra' was written by Vatsyayana, which not only talks about eroticism but also regulates the sexual behaviour of human beings, this was a breakthrough as it set standards for sexuality in the ancient Indian society. On the other side of the world, polyandry was seen as normal in Greek and Persian society. Fast forward to 21st century, now pornography is setting the standards for sexuality, but how many of these standards are morally right to today's society who is usually 'hush-hush' around topics of sex? Is porn liberating? Is it empowering? The answers to these questions will determine what the nature of eroticism and love is in the 21st century.

Sexual interactions are socially constructed within a historical, social and cultural milieu, and are continually defined and redefined accordingly depending on the surrounding economic, political, moral, and religious social forces. Although the human capacity for sexual expression spans a wide range of variations and permutations, it is nonetheless seriously confined, limited and restricted to only a few “acceptable” forms. Western style “sexual acceptability” is, in turn, determined by the prevailing white, heterosexual standards of patriarchy perpetuated through childhood masculine socialization and adolescent and adult machismo practices. Revisiting Sexualities in the 21st Century examines a whole set of explanatory and definitional issues from the very outset, particularly regarding what may be rightly included and excluded from its provenance and coverage. The contributors to this book are brought together from three different methodological spheres: qualitative, quantitative, and historical/comparative. Each author lays out the traditional parameters of the methodology used in their perspectives of social science research, and openly discusses how they have been applied to the study of hetero sexuality/non-heterosexuality and the ways in which their theory and methodology may be improved. Their contributions outline some of the major theoretical and methodological problems that still confront the study of modern sexualities, while also presenting a selection of theoretical and methodological issues of interest to both new and experienced researchers. This anthology identifies the need in contemporary social and cultural studies for more elaborate understandings of the relations of various masculinities and femininities to power, nation, empire, violence, race, class, and embodiment, and, in doing so, brings together an eclectic, multidisciplinary, and wide-ranging collection of essays. The various contributions to this book will appeal to social scientists (especially sociologists, psychologists and sexologists), biomedical scientists, health professionals and other academic and professional audiences, and students, researchers and instructors of sexuality studies. Undoubtedly, with this collection, sexuality studies comes of age as an academic field.

Sex And Pleasure In Western Culture written by Gail Hawkes and has been published by Polity this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-07-16 with Social Science categories.

Sex and Pleasure in Western Culture provides the first comprehensive overview of desire and pleasure in western sexual culture. It argues that both have always been seen as socially disruptive and morally dangerous and offers an entertaining account of the methods by which these attributes of sex were managed across the centuries from Classical Antiquity to the present day. The book develops the hypothesis that, while expressed in very different social contexts, sexual pleasure has evoked very similar anxieties. The text draws on historical, cultural, sociological and contemporary sources and is easily accessible for both the general reader and students of gender and sexual culture. In addition to telling a story of its own, Sex and Pleasure in Western Culture examines lesser-known aspects of sexual history that invite further exploration by the interested reader. These range from sexual aestheticism in the 4th century AD and the sexual meaning of medieval church gargoyles, through to sexual training in the 1950s and 21st century sex holidays. The book will provide a compelling read for both students of sexuality and lay readers who find the complexities of human sexuality a source of fascination.

An absolute must-have parenting guide to raising girls in the 21st century. 'An excellent book' Vanessa Feltz 'Required reading for all parents, teachers and grandparents' DAILY MAIL 'There can be no keener revelation of a country's soul than the way it treats its children.' Nelson Mandela Childhood, as a stage in human development, has been steadily eroded. Children today are introduced to 21st-century adult values and behaviour at an increasingly early age, long before they are developmentally ready to cope with them. We expend immense time and effort attending to their material needs while simultaneously neglecting their developmental needs. In this important polemic, Sue Palmer believes that if we do not get a grip on this problem soon, the increase in developmental disorders, behavioural difficulties and mental health problems recorded by experts over recent decades will soon spiral out of control. Sue discusses challenges faced in the 21st century including: -the problems facing parents in an age of materialism -the way gender wars have intensified those problems -the debate about the 'female brain' -the reasons why contemporary culture can be so damaging for children, especially girls -the challenges involved in detoxifying family life Every parent, grandparent, teacher and carer of girls needs to read this book.
