Shango and The Amazing Magical CALMING Spell is part of a series which aim to deal with a number of childhood issues, such as sleep, anxiety and fears and phobias using direct suggestion and repetition. This Book deals specifically with Anger issues. Temper tantrums, rages, fits, huffs, moods etc. can be due to many different factors, from perfectly normal upsets to anxiety, depression, lack of sleep or dietary imbalances (for example, too much sugar). Occasional tantrums are a normal part of childhood and you will know if these are normal or unpredictable and unusually frequent episodes. If they are persistent they can be exhausting for both parent and child, not to mention innocent bystanders. If the child is willing to cooperate, Positive Suggestion can help with the frequency and magnitude of outbursts and in time might eliminate episodes altogether. Shango Books are based around the central character of Shango Tidbog. Shango and his friends, using 'Magic Spells', aims to help children overcome common issues such as sleeping, anxiety, phobia and anger. Tidbogs live in both the real world and the 'Dream World', where they have the power to help their 'special friend' (the child) and confer spells upon them given by Tidbog wizards, known as Wizbogs. ALL the Books have a common thread to improve positivity and happiness within the child. Therefore not only will the books alleviate or even nullify the child's specific issue but in addition, aim to leave them with a happier and more positive disposition. The books are not intended as traditional stories for children; the emphasis is on the books being a tool for parents to help children overcome the specific childhood issues that concern the child or parent. The books use repetition and direct suggestion to instil in the listener a positive message. They are not intended as a replacement for medical treatment but more as an addition to it where applicable. The books adopt a threefold approach; first, similar to traditional children's books, they aim to endear the child to the characters and story. Secondly, using direct suggestion they aim to help the child with the condition dealt with in the story, for example; anxiety. Lastly, there are pages provided to encourage the child to draw on and to interact with the story after the first reading, the following day or after a nap. These pages serve to include the child more with the 'process' and to help the child to 'open up' giving the parent an insight into the child's thoughts and feelings.....or just to have fun with Shango.

Lewis Spence, in the Preface, describes his purpose in writing the book as providing the reader with "the treasures of romance latent in the subject, the peculiar richness of which has been recognized since the early days of archaeological effort in Chaldea." Presented here with original illustrations and bookplates of paintings, drawings, and pictures concerning the myths, this book is a classic addition to any library. LEWIS SPENCE (1874-1955) was a Scottish journalist who recorded Scottish folklore, myths and legends from around the world, histories and legends about the lost world of Atlantis, and works on the occult. What is a grimoire? The word has a familiar ring to many people, particularly as a consequence of such popular television dramas as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. But few people are sure exactly what it means. Put simply, grimoires are books of spells that were first recorded in the Ancient Middle East and which have developed and spread across much of the Western Hemisphere and beyond over the ensuing millennia. At their most benign, they contain charms and remedies for natural and supernatural ailments and advice on contacting spirits to help find treasures and protect from evil. But at their most sinister they provide instructions on how to manipulate people for corrupt purposes and, worst of all, to call up and make a pact with the Devil. Both types have proven remarkably resilient and adaptable and retain much of their relevance and fascination to this day. But the grimoire represents much more than just magic. To understand the history of grimoires is to understand the spread of Christianity, the development of early science, the cultural influence of the print revolution, the growth of literacy, the impact of colonialism, and the expansion of western cultures across the oceans. As this book richly demonstrates, the history of grimoires illuminates many of the most important developments in European history over the last two thousand years.
