Participatory Practice In Space Place And Service Design written by Kelly L. Anderson and has been published by Vernon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-18 with Design categories.

'Participatory Practice in Space, Place, and Service Design' is premised on a belief in the importance of participatory practices in finding creative solutions to the plethora of problems we face today. It argues that engaging professions with the public in mutual exploration, analysis, and creative thinking is essential. It not only ensures better quality products, places, services, and a greater sense of civic agency but also facilitates fuller access to them and the life opportunities they can unleash. This book offers a uniquely varied perspective of the myriad ways in which participatory practices operate across disciplines and how they impact the worlds and communities we create and inhabit. This book suggests that participatory practices are multi-disciplinary and relevant in fields as diverse as design, architecture, education, health care, sustainability, and community activism, to name a few of those discussed here. How do designed objects and environments affect wellness, creativity, learning, and a sense of belonging? How do products and services affect everyday experience and attitudes towards issues such as sustainability? How does giving people a creative voice in their own education, services, and built environments open up their potential and strengthen identity and civic agency? Addressing these questions requires a rethinking of relations between people, objects, and environments; it demands attention to space, place, and services.

The creative potentiality of metaphor is one of the central themes in research on creativity. The present volume offers a space for the interdisciplinary discussion of the relationship between metaphor and creativity by focusing on (re)contextualization across modes and socio-cultural contexts and on the performative dimension of creative discourse practices. The volume brings together insights from Conceptual Metaphor Theory, (Critical) Discourse approaches to metaphor and Multimodal discourse analysis. Creativity as a process is explored in how it emerges in the flow of experience when talking about or reacting to creative acts such as dance, painting or music, and in subjects’ responses to advertisements in experimental studies. Creativity as product is explored by analyzing the choice, occurrence and patterning of creative metaphors in various types of (multimodal and multisensorial) discourses such as political cartoons, satire, films, children’s storybooks, music and songs, videos, scientific discourse, architectural reviews and the performance of classical Indian rasa.

New fundamentals for designing future-oriented housing This book shows how architectural design can improve housing. It looks at 14 innovative multiunit dwelling projects through the lenses of current research on urban housing systems, driven by questions on social, environmental, and economic sustainability. Residential buildings designed for diverse cultural contexts are brought together and examined according to spatial antonyms: the individual and communal, the interior and exterior, and the determined and undetermined, to create a resource for future architectural practice. The book concentrates on design decisions and incorporates rich illustrations and conversations with architects and residents. It follows a series of talks curated by the Melbourne School of Design to extend the debate on the missing links between architectural practice and housing research. New fundamentals for designing future-oriented housing In-detail portraits of 14 impactful multi-unit dwelling projects by international architecture offices A rich set of illustrations created exclusively for this book

This book examines the interconnections between art, phenomenology, and cognitive studies. Contributors question the binary oppositions generally drawn between visuality and agency, sensing and thinking, phenomenal art and politics, phenomenology and structuralism, and subjective involvement and social belonging. Instead, they foreground the many ways that artists ask us to consider how we sense, think, and act in relation to a work of art.

Color Space And Creativity written by Jack Stewart and has been published by Associated University Presse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Art categories.

"This study of Virginia Woolf, D. H. Lawrence, Joyce Cary, Lawrence Durrell, and A. S. Byatt focuses on color, space, and creativity in selected novels, stories, travel texts, essays, and letters." "Stewart highlights a nexus of color, space, and creativity that takes on ontological dimensions in the writing of five writers who are linked by stylistic affinities and correspondingly calibrated sensibilities. They engage writing with painting and their acts of attention converge in a zone where color, space, and creativity sustain the imaginative life-world of their characters. This study should lead to ongoing reflections on the roles of color and space in modernist and postmodernist texts and direct attention to the subtle and pervasive interactions of literature with painting."--BOOK JACKET.
