Così Holmes piomba a Torquay, ridente cittadina sul mare dove villeggia il bel mondo, portandosi al seguito un malinconico Watson, pieno di ricordi e rimpianti, e comincia a indagare sulla vita e sui segreti della bella Abigail. Ma le luci e le ombre di una donna possono essere ambigue come quelle di un giorno d'estate e gli occhi di una bambina possono aiutare un grande investigatore a vedere di più. Nata a Trieste nel 1964, dopo essersi diplomata all'Istituto d'Arte Drammatica della sua città, Elena Vesnaver lavora come attrice per più di vent'anni e scrive adattamenti e testi originali per la sua e altre compagnie. Dal 2004 si dedica esclusivamente alla scrittura, esplorando le varie sfumature della narrativa, passando dai libri per ragazzi al giallo, dal noir al rosa. Tiene corsi di scrittura creativa sia per ragazzi che per adulti. Con "Il caso dell'Unicorno Nero" vince, nel 2008 lo Sherlock Magazine Award e il racconto compare anche nella raccolta "Sherlock Holmes in Italia". I suoi ultimi libri sono "Cime Tempestose" con illustrazioni di Sandro Natalini (Edizioni Lineadaria), riscrittura per ragazzi del classico di Emily Brontë e "Le ragioni dell'inverno" (A.Car Edizioni), un giallo psicologico in tre episodi. Nel 2011 è stata pubblicata la riedizione in formato ebook del suo romanzo breve "Sixta pixta rixa xista" per la casa editrice Edizioni di Karta. Nel 2013 pubblica per Coccole Books il libro per ragazzi "Il segreto della dire" con le illustrazioni di Federico Maggioni. Dal 2009 scrive racconti, romanzi brevi e a puntate per alcune delle più importanti riviste femminili.

Commissionata da Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stesso, Undershaw ha assistito alla creazione di molte delle sue opere più famose, incluso Il mastino dei Baskerville e Il ritorno di Sherlock Holmes. É un edificio che merita di essere preservato, per la nazione Britannica, e per il mondo intero, per sempre. Purtroppo, al momento, l'edificio è minacciato dagli imprenditori edilizi, che intendono dividere la casa in tre unità separate e costruirne altre cinque. I permessi edilizi per i lavori sono già stati approvati dal Waverley Borough Council. L'Undershaw Preservation Trust, (UPT), con Mark Gatiss (BBC Sherlock) come sostenitore, è un fondo che si occupa della conservazione e protezione di questo edificio di importanza culturale, e sta portando avanti una campagna per revocare questa decisione, affinché la casa possa essere riportata allo splendore originale, e vissuta come la dimora che Sir Arthur Conan Doyle aveva progettato. Questo libro è una raccolta di racconti brevi e poesie su Sherlock Holmes, scritti da fan di tutto il mondo a sostegno della campagna 'Save Undershaw', persino la copertina è stata ideata dai fan. I diritti d'autore del libro sono destinati all' UPT allo scopo di conservare questa meravigliosa abitazione per le future generazioni di fan di Doyle, appassionati di Sherlock Holmes, e amanti della letteratura di tutti i tipi.
