Dieser hatte einen beträchtlichen Anteil an der Gründung und Entwicklung der Psychoanalyse und ist wahrscheinlich einer der berühmtesten Mediziner der Welt. Sein Leben war oft aber nicht so einfach, wie man es gerne denken würde: Zuerst befiel ihn der Krebs und dann wurde er durch den Nationalsozialismus aus seiner Heimat vertrieben. Viele Menschen behaupten die freudsche Theorie des ES, ICH und ÜBER - ICH zu kennen, aber nur Wenige haben sich mit Sigmund Freud als Person beschäftigt und wissen in welchem Zusammenhang seine Theorien stehen. Im Folgenden möchte ich anhand des oben genannten Essays versuchen, Freuds Kulturtheorie auf ihre Konsistenz und Aktualität hin zu prüfen. Hierfür werde ich zunächst kurz Freuds Auffassung des Bewusstseins und der menschlichen Triebe umreißen, dann den Weg der Kulturentstehung und Kulturfeindlichkeit laut Freud nachvollziehen und unter Einbeziehung kritischer Aspekte darlegen, inwiefern diese Ansicht noch heute als aktuell gewertet werden kann. II. Die Triebstruktur des Menschen Laut Freud bestimmen zwei ursprüngliche Triebe das Denken und Handeln der Menschen. Hierbei handelt es sich einerseits um den Eros und andererseits um den Thanatos. Zum besseren Verständnis der darauf folgenden Ausführungen beschreibe ich nun kurz das 3-Instanzen-Modell der Seele und die Trieblehre nach Freud. II.1. Das 3-Instanzen-Modell Beide Triebe stehen in Gegensatz zueinander und entspringen dem Es. Das Es stellt in Freuds Modell den unbewussten Teil der Seele und somit die Quelle der Triebe und der Energie dar.
