The images included in 93: Punching the Light were all shot in Sydney in 1993 when Simon Burstall was just 17 years old. He was very involved with the rave scene and culture at that time and was drawn to capturing the people and style that surrounded that way of life. He also found time to keep a journal and details of his life, his friends and their experiences. Looking back at this material some 25 years later, Burstall has now created a sort of intimate diary and reflection on the rave culture lifestyle in Australia in the early '90s. His photos and diary entries reveal the wonderment of youth and adolescence, a feeling that what they were experiencing as a group was life altering, and that this moment in time would shape them all, not just as friends but in their own individual paths.

Differential Geometry And Integrable Systems written by Martin A. Guest and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Mathematics categories.

Ideas and techniques from the theory of integrable systems are playing an increasingly important role in geometry. Thanks to the development of tools from Lie theory, algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry, and topology, classical problems are investigated more systematically. New problems are also arising in mathematical physics. A major international conference was held at the University of Tokyo in July 2000. It brought together scientists in all of the areas influenced byintegrable systems. This book is the first of three collections of expository and research articles. This volume focuses on differential geometry. It is remarkable that many classical objects in surface theory and submanifold theory are described as integrable systems. Having such a description generallyreveals previously unnoticed symmetries and can lead to surprisingly explicit solutions. Surfaces of constant curvature in Euclidean space, harmonic maps from surfaces to symmetric spaces, and analogous structures on higher-dimensional manifolds are some of the examples that have broadened the horizons of differential geometry, bringing a rich supply of concrete examples into the theory of integrable systems. Many of the articles in this volume are written by prominent researchers and willserve as introductions to the topics. It is intended for graduate students and researchers interested in integrable systems and their relations to differential geometry, topology, algebraic geometry, and physics. The second volume from this conference also available from the AMS is Integrable Systems,Topology, and Physics, Volume 309 CONM/309in the Contemporary Mathematics series. The forthcoming third volume will be published by the Mathematical Society of Japan and will be available outside of Japan from the AMS in the Advanced Studies in Pure Mathematics series.

"Early twentieth-century American author Edith Wharton's 1928 novel about a group of seven step-siblings who strike up a relationship with a solitary bachelor on a yacht while hoping that their parents' reconciliation lasts". *** "One of Mrs. Wharton's latest novels, this is a story of expatriate Americans in the 1920s. Its theme is the predicament of children whose rich, pleasure-mad parents progress through marriages and divorces as casually as they flit around the fashionable European resorts of the period."

Finding Eliza written by Larissa Behrendt and has been published by Univ. of Queensland Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-01-27 with History categories.

A vital Aboriginal perspective on colonial storytelling Indigenous lawyer and writer Larissa Behrendt has long been fascinated by the story of Eliza Fraser, who was purportedly captured by the local Butchulla people after she was shipwrecked on their island in 1836. In this deeply personal book, Behrendt uses Eliza's tale as a starting point to interrogate how Aboriginal people – and indigenous people of other countries – have been portrayed in their colonizers' stories. Citing works as diverse as Robinson Crusoe and Coonardoo, she explores the tropes in these accounts, such as the supposed promiscuity of Aboriginal women, the Europeans' fixation on cannibalism, and the myth of the noble savage. Ultimately, Behrendt shows how these stories not only reflect the values of their storytellers but also reinforce those values – which in Australia led to the dispossession of Aboriginal people and the laws enforced against them.

Ghost Boy written by Martin Pistorius and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-07-07 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

In January 1988, aged twelve, Martin Pistorius fell inexplicably sick. First he lost his voice and stopped eating; then he slept constantly and shunned human contact. Doctors were mystified. Within eighteen months he was mute and wheelchair-bound. Martin's parents were told that an unknown degenerative disease had left him with the mind of a baby and he probably had less than two years to live. Martin went on to be cared for at centres for severely disabled children, a shell of the bright, vivacious boy he had once been. What no-one knew is that while Martin's body remained unresponsive his mind slowly woke up, yet he could tell no-one; he was a prisoner inside a broken body. Then, in 1998, when Martin was twenty-three years old, an aromatherapy masseuse began treating him and sensed some part of him was alert. Experts were dismissive, but his parents persevered and soon realised their son was as intelligent as he'd always been. With no memory of the time before his illness, Martin was a man-child reborn in a world he didn't know. He was still in a wheelchair and unable to speak, but he was brilliantly adept at computer technology. Since then, and against all odds, he has fallen in love, married and set up a design business which he runs from his home in Essex.Ghost Boyis an incredible, deeply moving story of recovery and the power of love. Through Martin's story we can know what it is like to be here and yet not here - unable to communicate yet feeling and understanding everything. Martin's emergence from his darkness enables us to celebrate the human spirit and is a wake-up call to cherish our own lives.
