Este livro descreve o significado, as valencias semantica e sintatica de variantes de 13 unidades lexicais do campo lexico-semantico dos verbos de mudanca de posse no portugues do Brasil. O arcabouco teorico fundamenta-se em abordagens alemas no ambito da gramatica de dependencia, teoria da valencia e semantica componencial. A valencia e analisada por meio do tratamento computacional dos ambientes sintaticos e semanticos das variantes verbais em corpus. A analise dos significados verbais incorpora, por um lado, hipoteses acerca desses verbos e dos significados de equivalentes em ingles e alemao. Por outro lado, reflete julgamentos de falantes sobre propriedades e relacoes semanticas de frases contendo os lexemas verbais. Os resultados da investigacao sintatica e semantica sao formalizados em termos logicos e matematicos.
