Dalam setiap penetapan awal bulan hijriah, khususnya awal bulan Ramadan, Syawal dan Zulhijjah ada sekelompok masyarakat yang menjadi perhatian publik. Salah satunya kelompok masyarakat yang diistilahkan sebagai masyarakat Aboge (Alif Rebo Wage). Istilah ini untuk menyebutkan sekelompok umat Islam yang menentukan awal bulan hijriah dengan menggunakan metode perhitungan Aboge. Masyarakat Aboge sering –bahkan dapat dikatakan selalu– berbeda dengan Pemerintah Indonesia dalam penetapan bulan Ramadan, Syawal dan Zulhijjah. Sebagai contoh pada tahun 1443 H/2022 M, Pemerintah Indonesia melalui Kementerian Agama Republik Indonesia menetapkan 1 Ramadan 1443 H/2022 M jatuh pada Minggu Wage, 3 April 2022 M, sedangkan masyarakat Aboge menetapkan Senin Kliwon, 4 April 2022 M. Begitu juga pada penetapan 1 Syawal 1443 H Pemerintah Indonesia menetapkan jatuh pada Senin Pon, 2 Mei 2022 M, sedangkan masyarakat Aboge menetapkan Rabu Kliwon, 4 Mei 2022 M. Berdasarkan dari perbedaan tersebut, maka ada selisih 1 (satu) hari, bahkan sampai 2 (dua) hari antara penetapan Pemerintah Indonesia dengan masyarakat Aboge. Melalui buku ini, penulis berusaha untuk mengurai hal yang paling mendasar yang menyebabkan terjadi perbedaan dalam penetapan awal bulan hijriah tersebut. Buku yang ditulis dengan kajian yang mendalam ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam menambah wawasan dan pengembangan khazanah keilmuan, khususnya bidang Ilmu Falak dengan paradigma unity of sicences (kesatuan ilmu).
