Comparing the intertwining complexity of the Book of Kells with the complexity of our relationship with those we love and care for, Love So Deep Within weaves the difficult subjects of dying and living with cancer into a memoir of one whose recent journey takes you beyond the doors to both worlds. The Book of Kells was written during times of immense struggles within the world for dominance and power in approximately AD 800; however, a small group of monks off the coast of Ireland were diligent in creating a masterpiece of the four gospels of the Bible, illuminated with vibrant, rare colors and tints of the images of life and featuring figures of humans, animals, and mythical beasts together with interlacing patterns. Love So Deep Within tells us a story of not giving up and of compassion to the very end. It tells us of the richness of our experience of living with those who are close to death, and yet live with us still-of the passage of time, inconsequential and yet full of transition and of a time so precious to us that it lingers. And that this time is a powerful gift. Love So Deep Within is a story of love, compassion, and hope for caregivers everywhere.

Too Strong to Be Broken explores the dynamic life of Edward J. Driving Hawk, a Vietnam and Korean War veteran, chairman of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, former president of the National Congress of American Indians, husband, father, recovered alcoholic, and convicted felon. Driving Hawk’s story begins with his childhood on the rural plains of South Dakota, then follows him as he travels back and forth to Asia for two wars and journeys across the Midwest and Southwest. In his positions of leadership back in the United States, Driving Hawk acted in the best interest of his community, even when sparring with South Dakota governor Bill Janklow and the FBI. After retiring from public service, he started a construction business and helped create the United States Reservation Bank and Trust. Unfortunately, a key participant in the bank embezzled millions and fled, leaving Driving Hawk to take the blame. Rather than plead guilty to a crime he did not commit, the seventy-four-year-old grandfather went to prison for a year and a day, even as he suffered the debilitating effects of Agent Orange. Driving Hawk fully believes that the spirits of his departed ancestors watched out for him during his twenty-year career in the U.S. Air Force, including his exposure to Agent Orange, and throughout his life as he survived surgeries, strokes, a tornado, a plane crash, and alcoholism. With the help of his sister, Virginia Driving Hawk Sneve, Driving Hawk recounts his life’s story alongside his wife, Carmen, and their five children.

Between North And South written by Emily Wharton Sinkler and has been published by Univ of South Carolina Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Emily Wharton, a Philadelphian, in 1842 married Charles Sinkler, a midshipman in the US Navy. Sinkler took his 19-year-old wife to live among his family, wealthy cotton planters outside Charleston, SC. For much of her married life Emily traveled between the two places; her letters, edited by her great-great-granddaughter (a librarian at the U. of Tennessee), were retrieved from the attics of relatives Northern and Southern. LeClercq sees her forebear as a pioneer of sorts, adapting well to the rural, antebellum South--a paternalistic society where opportunities for women were circumscribed--while also thriving in cosmopolitan Philadelphia and endearing herself to the people whose lives she touched in both worlds. c.
