Die teils von erheblicher Gewalt gekennzeichneten antirevolutionären Maßnahmen betrafen allerdings nicht nur die unmittelbare Nachkriegszeit. Nahezu das gesamte 20. Jahrhundert war vom Phänomen der Revolutionsangst beeinflusst.
