Old Army buddies Fred Custer and Green Beret Hickey team up to rescue Jim Simpson, the beloved son of an old colleague. Jim's job was to handle the finances of a Halliburton-like company, but he discovers much to his dismay that the company is rotten to the core and people who should be dedicated to the mission are in fact dedicated to lining their own pockets. Now a whole lot of money has gone missing along with Jim. Custer and Hickey end up in Cairo, where they discover a dark torture prison deep within the heart of the Egyptian desert, nicknamed "The Death Factory." Action movie fans and military thriller readers will love this blend of fire-power, non-stop forward motion, and suspense.

The IARC Monographs series publishes authoritative independent assessments by international experts of the carcinogenic risks posed to humans by a variety of agents, mixtures and exposures. They are a resource of information for both researchers and national and international authorities. This volume is particularly significant because tobacco smoke not only causes more deaths from cancer than any other known agent; it also causes more deaths from vascular and respiratory diseases. This volume contains all the relevant information on both direct and passive smoking. It is organised by first looking at the nature of agent before collecting the evidence of cancer in humans. This is followed by carcinogenicity studies on animals and then any other data relevant to an evaluation.

The Holocaust And The Nonrepresentable written by David Patterson and has been published by SUNY Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-23 with History categories.

Argues that Holocaust representation has ethical implications fundamentally linked to questions of good and evil. Many books focus on issues of Holocaust representation, but few address why the Holocaust in particular poses such a representational problem. David Patterson draws from Emmanuel Levinas’s contention that the Good cannot be represented. He argues that the assault on the Good is equally nonrepresentable and this nonrepresentable aspect of the Holocaust is its distinguishing feature. Utilizing Jewish religious thought, Patterson examines how the literary word expresses the ineffable and how the photographic image manifests the invisible. Where the Holocaust is concerned, representation is a matter not of imagination but of ethical implication, not of what it was like but of what must be done. Ultimately Patterson provides a deeper understanding of why the Holocaust itself is indefinable—not only as an evil but also as a fundamental assault on the very categories of good and evil affirmed over centuries of Jewish teaching and testimony. “This book commands respect, both for the author’s immense and intimate knowledge of what has become a vast body of work and for his unconditional commitment to the subject. I am in awe of what I have just read.” — Dorota Glowacka, coeditor of Between Ethics and Aesthetics: Crossing the Boundaries

The American author Dashiell Hammett created the hard-boiled school of detective fiction, with the enduring characters of Sam Spade, Nick and Nora Charles (The Thin Man) and the Continental Op.
