In the past I've written down certain memories for three special ladies in my family. I've given these compiled stores to each person for a special occasion that was happening in each of their lives. Now I've combined the three compilations into one book. I don't want the stories to be forgotten, but instead to be shared with other members of the family and with our friends. I want my kids to see snapshots of my life, and even if they shake their heads in confusion or think I'm crazy they will at least know me a little more than they did before. Happy reading everyone!

The motivation to write this book flowed naturally from the grace of the Nobel Peace Prize, a prize won the hard way by a quartet of organizations determined to unravel an untenable situation in an unbreathable atmosphere. Taking the form of an account of my personal journey leading up to the culmination of the Nobel Prize, the book rightly belongs to the genre of real biographies; nevertheless, it is at the same time a scrupulous testimony, namely mine, on events experienced first-hand during a crucial period of the political scene in Tunisia, where I was fated to play a frontstage role. So, dear reader, I faithfully offer you my narrative, which is intended to be unadorned and transparent. It reproduces events and situations as they really happened and also corrects a few (inevitable) highly exaggerated clichés, reproduced here and there in newspapers and other media. It is a witness account of an experience lived first-hand taken as I was by the irresistible swirl of the events of that period, along with and among the other actors of history. It represents the sum total of my personal journey up to that point in time where I also highlighted the significant milestones and vicissitudes in my life that had led to shaping my consciousness and helped me to form and grasp my “idea of engagement.”

Pictures Of A Childhood written by Alice Miller and has been published by Little Brown this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Children in art categories.

In PICTURES OF CHILDHOOD, Alice Miller explores the connection between childhood and that creative anxiety which 'somehow permits us to come to grips with the demons of our past and give form to the chaos within and thereby master our anxiety.' Having realised in the early seventies a lifelong desire to paint, Dr Miller found an unfamiliar world emerging from her paintings: not the 'nice' world of her childhood, to which she had always testified, but one of fear, despair and loneliness. Meditating on her spontaneously executed watercolours- sixty-six of which are reproduced here in full colour- and their implications, Dr Miller offers a profound analysis of the roots of creativity in the authentic self's struggle for survival.

The writing shows more than the scenes that are susceptible to the camera's lens: It delves into the history, language, connections, and meanings of the experience. It is designed to persuade the reader to think and to travel.

Pictures And The Past written by Alexander Bigman and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024 with Art categories.

"The group of artists known as the "Pictures Generation" are usually thought to have rebelled against abstract and minimalist art by bringing back figural techniques and borrowing liberally from the aesthetics of mass media and advertising. Challenging conventional interpretations of this group, Alexander Bigman argues that these artists-especially Robert Longo, Jack Goldstein, Sarah Charlesworth, Gretchen Bender, and Troy Brauntuch-deployed totalitarian and fascist iconography to pose new, politically loaded questions about what it means to perceive the world historically in a society saturated by images. Throughout, he also situates their work in the context of other developments taking place in New York City at the time, including music, fashion, cinema, and literature. This is a book about art, popular culture, and memory, and especially about how the specter of fascism loomed for these artists in the 1970s and 1980s, and the ways it still looms for us today"--
