Na sociedade atual, o sobrepeso e a obesidade são considerados uma epidemia e um grave problema de saúde pública, tornando-se uma questão de relevância social. O indivíduo gordo é estigmatizado diante do padrão corporal estabelecido socialmente, que ratifica o preconceito e a discriminação. Sabe-se que a população de pessoas com sobrepeso já ultrapassa a população com o peso ideal, porém a forma como a sociedade vê e trata o gordo gera consequências para a sua vida. Desse modo, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo compreender as experiências de discriminação vivenciadas pelos gordos. Participaram desse estudo cinco mulheres que frequentavam grupos socioeducativos de obesidade e compulsão alimentar. Foram realizadas entrevistas com as participantes e a utilização de um questionário com perguntas sociodemográficas. Os dados foram transcritos e analisados por meio de uma análise de conteúdo temática. Os resultados apontam a representação social negativa do gordo, que revela a visão de anormalidade que lhe é atribuída no meio social. Além disso, os gordos vivenciam situações de discriminação em diversos cenários sociais que causam consequências negativas a sua saúde física, psicológica e social. A discriminação baseada no peso é cada vez mais produzida, reproduzida e compartilhada socialmente e está relacionada à imposição e à supervalorização do corpo magro pela sociedade, causando consequências negativas para suas vítimas
