La scelta dell’inclusione parte da un coinvolgimento personale. Scegliere di includere vuol dire, prima di ogni cosa, scegliere di includersi, di mettersi in discussione, di ripercorrere la propria storia, di lavorare sulle proprie emozioni, sulla consapevolezza dei propri punti di forza e di debolezza. La scelta di includere è relativa all’includere l’altro come egli è, senza investirlo e caricarlo di aspettative proprie, ma impegnandosi a fornirgli gli strumenti necessari affinché un giorno sia lui a poter scegliere chi e come essere. La scelta di includere è prima di tutto una scelta etica, ed è proprio dalla dimensione etica, ossia dalla volontà di restituire alla nostra società l’integrità che perde ogniqualvolta una persona resta esclusa, che scaturisce la seconda dimensione, quella culturale e scientifica. La scienza, in particolare quella pedagogica, ponendosi al servizio dei processi di inclusione nei contesti reali, esprime la sua natura di scienza sociale, empirica e pratica, oltre che eidetica, che si alimenta nel confronto diretto con le esperienze e i contesti reali di cui si interessa. Questo volume intende, dunque, offrire spunti di riflessione teoricometodologici e strumenti per progettare e gestire un servizio educativo in condizioni di difficoltà, a partire da un’esperienza concreta, dalla sua genesi e dal suo sviluppo. La modernizzazione della modernità è il risultato di una conseguenza non prevedibile, alla quale la sociologia non associa una crescita lineare della razionalizzazione o del controllo, una strategia o un maggiore sapere specialistico, ma solo intrinseche conseguenze delle conseguenze secondarie, della modernizzazione della società industriale. Ciò indica la rottura della “gabbia d’acciaio” di Weber per dar vita a nuove occasioni, che aprono la strada a nuovi interessi e soggetti in conflitto. La sociologia inserisce nelle crisi della modernità e del postindustrialismo, come conseguenza di un segmento storico-sociologico preciso, il problema ambientale. La radicalizzazione della modernità come trasformazione, cambiamento e riassetto dei nuovi pilastri istituzionali e nuove strutture sociali, e la sostenibilità come semantica confliittuale. Ma il concetto di modernità continua a essere associato a certe caratteristiche essenziali delle formazioni economico-sociali capitalistiche, molti ritengono che nelle società socialiste non siano mai esistite le condizioni della modernità. Di conseguenza, in queste società la modernità non solo non avrebbe potuto creare crisi ambientali ma neppure i presupposti di una radicalizzazione della modernità e quindi un processo di sviluppo caratterizzato dalla sostenibilità. Eppure, lontano dalla modernità, nella Russia dei primi anni venti, non solo si affronta il problema ambientale come potenziale minaccia per il futuro dell’umanità in assenza di una reale industrializzazione, ma si pianifica un processo di sviluppo politico, economico e sociale che ha tutte le caratteristiche riscontrabili in quel modello definito sessant’anni più tardi: sviluppo sostenibile. In Italia, molti anni dopo, ritroveremo un movimento ecologista (anti nucleare) che seguirà la stessa strada del VOOP russo. Accademici e expertise daranno vita a movimenti politici per incidere sulle scelte economiche e sociali dell’Italia.

Analyzes Derrida’s 1975 seminar “La vie la mort” as a deconstruction of biology with relevance to his work more broadly. In Biodeconstruction, Francesco Vitale demonstrates the key role that the question of life plays in Jacques Derrida’s work. In the seminar La vie la mort (1975), Derrida engages closely with the life sciences, especially biology and evolution theory. Connecting this line of thought to his analysis of cybernetics in Of Grammatology, Vitale shows how Derrida develops a notion of biological life as itself a sort of text that is necessarily open onto further articulations and grafts. This sets the stage for the deconstruction of the traditional opposition between life and death, conceiving of death as an internal condition of the constitution of the living rather than being the opposite of life. It also provides the basis for the deconstruction of the rigidly deterministic concept of the genetic program, an insight that anticipates recent achievements of biological research in epigenetics and sexual reproduction. Finally, Vitale argues that this framework can enrich our understanding of Derrida’s late work devoted to political issues, connecting his use of the autoimmunitarian lexicon to the theory of cellular suicide in biology. Francesco Vitale is Professor of Aesthetics at the University of Salerno, Italy. He is the author of The Last Fortress of Metaphysics: Jacques Derrida and the Deconstruction of Architecture, also published by SUNY Press, and the author and editor of several books in Italian on Derrida and contemporary French philosophy. Mauro Senatore is a British Academy Fellow at Durham University in the United Kingdom and Adjunct Professor of Contemporary French Philosophy at the Instituto de Humanidades, Universidad Diego Portales, Santiago, Chile. He is the author of Germs of Death: The Problem of Genesis in Jacques Derrida, also published by SUNY Press.
