Campus Traditions written by Simon J. Bronner and has been published by Univ. Press of Mississippi this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-09-10 with Social Science categories.

From their beginnings, campuses emerged as hotbeds of traditions and folklore. American college students inhabit a culture with its own slang, stories, humor, beliefs, rituals, and pranks. Simon J. Bronner takes a long, engaging look at American campus life and how it is shaped by students and at the same time shapes the values of all who pass through it. The archetypes of absent-minded profs, fumbling jocks, and curve-setting dweebs are the stuff of legend and humor, along with the all-nighters, tailgating parties, and initiations that mark campus tradition—and student identities. Undergraduates in their hallowed halls embrace distinctive traditions because the experience of higher education precariously spans childhood and adulthood, parental and societal authority, home and corporation, play and work. Bronner traces historical changes in these traditions. The predominant context has shifted from what he calls the “old-time college,” small in size and strong in its sense of community, to mass society’s “mega-university,” a behemoth that extends beyond any campus to multiple branches and offshoots throughout a state, region, and sometimes the globe. One might assume that the mega-university has dissolved collegiate traditions and displaced the old-time college, but Bronner finds the opposite. Student needs for social belonging in large universities and a fear of losing personal control have given rise to distinctive forms of lore and a striving for retaining the pastoral “campus feel” of the old-time college. The folkloric material students spout, and sprout, in response to these needs is varied but it is tied together by its invocation of tradition and social purpose. Beneath the veil of play, students work through tough issues of their age and environment. They use their lore to suggest ramifications, if not resolution, of these issues for themselves and for their institutions. In the process, campus traditions are keys to the development of American culture.

CONTENTS: 1. U.S. ARMY AEROMEDICAL EVACUATION CRITICAL CARE FLIGHT PARAMEDIC STANDARD MEDICAL OPERATING GUIDELINES - CY23 Version Published January 2023, 318 pages 2. TCCC Guidelines for Medical Personnel - 15 December 2021, 19 pages 3. JTS Clinical Practice Guidelines, 2,260 total pages - current as of 19 September 2023: INTRODUCTION The SMOG continues to go through significant improvements with each release as a result of the collaboration of Emergency Medicine professionals, experienced Flight Medics, Aeromedical Physician Assistants, Critical Care Nurses, and Flight Surgeons. There has been close coordination in the development of these guidelines by the Joint Trauma System, and the Defense Committees on Trauma. Our shared goal is to ensure the highest quality en route care possible and to standardize care across all evacuation and emergency medical pre-hospital units. It is our vision that all of these enhancements and improvements will advance en route care across the services and the Department of Defense. Unit medical trainers and medical directors should evaluate Critical Care Flight Paramedics (CCFP) ability to follow and execute the medical instructions herein. These medical guidelines are intended to guide CCFPs and prehospital professionals in the response and management of emergencies and the care and treatment of patients in both garrison and combat theater environments. Unit medical providers are not expected to employ these guidelines blindly. Unit medical providers are expected to manipulate and adjust these guidelines to their unit’s mission and medical air crew training / experience. Medical directors or designated supervising physicians should endorse these guidelines as a baseline, appropriately adjust components as needed, and responsibly manage individual unit medical missions within the scope of practice of their Critical Care Flight Paramedics, Enroute Critical Care Nurses, and advanced practice aeromedical providers. The medication section of this manual is provided for information purposes only. CCFPs may administer medications only as listed in the guidelines unless their medical director and/or supervising physician orders a deviation. Other medications may be added, so long as the unit supervising physician and/or medical director approves them. This manual also serves as a reference for physicians providing medical direction and clinical oversight to the CCFP. Treatment direction, which is more appropriate to the patient’s condition than the guideline, should be provided by the physician as long as the CCFP scope of practice is not exceeded. Any medical guideline that is out of date or has been found to cause further harm will be updated or deleted immediately. The Medical Evacuation Concepts and Capabilities Division (MECCD) serves as the managing editor of the SMOG and are responsible for content updates, managing the formal review process, and identifying review committee members for the annual review. The Standard Medical Operating Guidelines are intended to provide medical procedural guidance and is in compliment to other Department of Defense and Department of the Army policies, regulatory and doctrinal guidance. Nothing herein overrides or supersedes laws, rules, regulation or policies of the United States, DoD or DA.

Texas Aggies Go To War written by Henry C. Dethloff and has been published by Texas A&M University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-06-24 with History categories.

When their country calls, Texas Aggies go to war. From the Spanish-American War and World War I to Operation Iraqi Freedom, Aggies have been in the forefront of America’s armed forces, producing more officers than any other school outside the service academies. More than 20,000 Texas Aggies served in World War II, for instance, including more than 14,000 as commissioned officers. Trained in leadership and the knowledge required for warfare, Aggies have served with distinction in all branches of the military service. In this first-ever compilation of the impressive war record of Texas Aggies, stories of individual soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines are displayed with an abundance of statistics, maps, and tables. These narratives include • First-person accounts of Aggie heroism in battle in all the wars in which A&M former students have fought; • The horrific experiences of some of the eighty-seven Aggies who were stationed at Corregidor and Bataan; • The perils of five Aggies who participated in the raid over Tokyo with Jimmie Doolittle; • The heroics of the seven Medal of Honor recipients from Texas A&M during World War II; • James Earl Rudder’s leadership of the Ranger assault at Normandy on D-Day; • Examples of vigorous support and devotion to duty given by Aggies in Korea, Vietnam, and the Middle East. Texas Aggies Go to War celebrates the school’s distinctive Corps of Cadets and its military contributions while honoring the individual sacrifices of its members. Those who fought and those who remember them will find here a comprehensive account of the distinguished war record of this school. This book was initiated and sponsored by a group of former students who provided funding through the Texas A&M Foundation. All proceeds from the book will be used to benefit the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

This fully updated edition of Barron's Military Flight Aptitude Tests provides would-be aviators in all five U.S. armed services with the competitive edge they will need to score their best and maximize their chances of being selected! This book is an effective, full-spectrum resource for officer candidates, ROTC cadets from all services, and current military members. Six full-length practice tests (two per service) with answers and explanations for every question get readers ready for the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT), the Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT), and the Navy/Marine Corps/Coast Guard Aviation Selection Test Battery (ASTB-E). Test overviews and detailed review sections give potential pilots the boost they need to rise to the top of the selection list, and most of the review subjects apply to all three tests. Successful aviation applicants strongly recommend working through every valuable review section, and the other services' tests are great for extra practice to reinforce your learning. Written by a veteran, joint qualified military officer and instructor, this book's review sections cover language skills, reading comprehension, math knowledge, arithmetic reasoning, mechanical comprehension, aviation and nautical technical information, science, and specific mental skills such as block counting, finding hidden figures, and spatial apperception. The author also coaches readers on effective study techniques, provides expanded information resources, and gives pilot candidates a thorough preview of how each test is structured and conducted.
