Ogni testo prende avvio da un “mistero” celato dietro una lapide, o una leggenda legata al territorio, o un ritrovamento archeologico, oppure dietro un simbolo o suggestioni magiche. Si tratta di un mistero mai svelato che viene elaborato per tessere una trama che attinge dalla storia e dal sovrannaturale. Due studenti si ritrovano in una realtà alternativa, un gruppo di amici si introducono in una casa dalla nomea nefasta, il ritrovamento di due scheletri abbracciati trasporta chi legge indietro nel tempo, due amici durante un’escursione in montagna si imbattono in una sinistra locanda che nasconde un segreto che riporta ai Celti e ai Romani e un condottiero osa ingannare le streghe per propiziarsi le sorti della battaglia. In ogni racconto c’è una soglia, al di là della quale c’è la salvezza o l’abisso.
