Raccogliere conchiglie su una spiaggia d’autunno, per comporre sulla sabbia una figura che rappresenta un sole, e sapere che inevitabilmente la prossima marea se ne impossesserà per sempre, è un po’ come scrivere poesie. Accarezzare un sentimento profondo, ripensare ad un sorriso incontrato per caso, o solo divertirsi a comporre musica con le parole che si incatenano tra di loro nei versi, è un po’ come disegnare un sole con le conchiglie. Chi leggerà queste pagine, non si aspetti la profondità di pensiero di un poeta, colga solo la leggerezza del fluire dei pensieri. E se almeno una volta sentirà la voglia di rileggere anche uno solo di questi versi, per provare un’emozione o per ricordare un gioco di parole; oppure se chiudendo il libro si abbandonerà ad un attimo di riflessione, sarà il segno che il suo spirito è vivo, che la sua anima sa ancora volare. È segno che ancora c’è spazio, per sentirsi un po’ tutti poeti, un po’ di più. Per aiutare il pensiero a non farsi corrompere dal tempo. Il nostro tempo che non lascia scampo a niente. Francesco Arturo Monaco (Lecce 1954), non si può certamente definire un letterato, con i suoi studi presso un istituto per Geometri, la facoltà di Architettura del Politecnico di Milano, o con il suo lavoro di natura prevalentemente tecnica; eppure la su passione per la poesia lo ha fino qui accompagnato, tanto da convincerlo a pubblicare questa prima raccolta di poesie. Affacciarsi timidamente su questo mondo, insolito per lui, è stata una sfida che ha raccolto senza esitazione. Il tentativo di farsi conoscere come poeta? Sicuramente no, piuttosto il desiderio di condividere i propri pensieri con chi ha ancora voglia di fermare il rumore della vita, con tutti coloro che credono che un attimo di pausa è un diritto che non ammette rinunce.
