The subject of this book is the study of dreaming from a specific point of view, one that provides useful and enlightening results: the analysis of the complex patterns of links among the memory sources of dreams. The significance of these patterns is logical and emotional at the same time. This approach is interdisciplinary: it directly involves the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, linguistics, computer science, mathematics (graph theory), history of psychology, literature, and motion pictures. However, no specific advanced expertise in any of these fields is required for understanding the various contents. The book is divided into three parts. Part 1 is dedicated to theories and methodologies regarding dream functions and dream interpretations: these theories and methodologies are considered in the perspective of their implications for the study of links among dream sources. Some meaningful examples of dreams, or metaphors or dreams, that can be found in poetry or motion pictures, are also considered.

Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts On The Theory Of Dreams written by Humberto Nagera and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-05-30 with Psychology categories.

It is generally accepted that among Freud’s many contributions to the understanding of the normal and abnormal aspects of mental functioning, The Interpretation of Dreams stands alone and above all others. In this work published in 1900 Freud laid down the foundations of psychoanalytic theory as it was to develop throughout this century. This work not only unravelled the significance of the process of dreaming and allowed for the scientific understanding of the true meaning and nature of the mysterious world of dreams, but created the basis for a general theory of personality capable of encompassing within a single model both the normal and abnormal aspect of mental functioning. Originally published in 1969 Dr Nagera and his collaborators (all analytically trained) from the Hampstead Child Therapy Clinic and Course (now the Anna Freud Centre) isolated from Freud’s work twenty-five basic concepts that they considered not only the cornerstones of Freud’s theory of dreams but fundamental pillars for the understanding of psychoanalytic theory generally. They include subjects such as dream sources, dream work, dream censorship, manifest content, latent content, condensation, displacement, symbolism, secondary revision and dream interpretation. They are presented in a condensed and concentrated manner containing all significant statements made by Freud at any point in his life on the subject of dreams, as well as tracing the historical development of his ideas wherever significant. References to the sources are given in all instances for the guidance of the student of psychoanalysis, the psychiatrist, the social worker, the psychologist or the scholarly minded reader.

The Collected Works Of Sigmund Freud written by Sigmund Freud and has been published by Good Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-08 with Psychology categories.

The Collected Works of Sigmund Freud is a monumental compilation that encapsulates the essence of Freud's groundbreaking contributions to psychology and psychoanalysis. Spanning numerous volumes, this compilation includes seminal texts such as 'The Interpretation of Dreams' and 'The Psychopathology of Everyday Life,' with an emphasis on the interplay between the unconscious and conscious mind, as well as the mechanisms of repression. Freud's literary style is characterized by a meticulousness that balances empirical observation with rich theoretical exploration, employing case studies and clinical observations that highlight his innovative approach to understanding human behavior. Within the broader literary context of the early 20th century, Freud's work challenges prevailing notions of psychology, laying the groundwork for modern psychotherapeutic practices and altering the landscape of both literature and philosophy. Sigmund Freud, an Austrian neurologist born in 1856, established psychoanalysis, morphing the landscape of psychological thought. Influenced by his background in medicine and the sociopolitical upheaval of his time, Freud sought to explore the depths of the human psyche. His own experiences as a Jew in Vienna during a period of rising anti-Semitism undoubtedly informed his perspective on societal norms and the intricacies of the human condition, compelling him to delve into the often hidden motivations that drive behavior. This collection is an essential read for anyone interested in the foundations of psychological theory, as it not only illuminates Freud'Äôs revolutionary insights but also provides a nuanced understanding of the complexities of human psyche. Whether you are a student of psychology, literature, or philosophy, The Collected Works of Sigmund Freud offers profound revelations that invite readers to reconsider their perceptions of self and society.
