Space Cadet Richard needs a trip into space to earn an achievement award. An opportunity occurs which will give him a trip into deep space. Though the trip is to be about a two weeks in length is it expected to be a very routine trip out and back. But once they have arrived at Far Point Space Station, things begin to go in unexpected ways. Their ship is hijacked by a group intent on destroying Earth's Coalition of Planets leaders. When most of the crew becomes marooned on a planet that is barely able to support life, it leaves Richard and the remaining crew members in a desperate struggling to prevent the Pirates from their mission of destruction.

Dick Elam was born in Richmond, Virginia, served for four years in the Army Air Force in World War II, and after the war became involved with the silk printing industry.
