The subject of time continues to be a subject of extensive research in the development of new theories of physics. This new volume is addressed to students who are starting a graduate program in physics or electrical engineering interested in complementing their studies of relativity theory and quantum physics, applying the knowledge they have acquired about these themes to the analysis of situations where the issue of time measurement is relevant. This is the case, for example, of clock synchronization, transit times of optical signals through dielectric and absorbing media, lifetimes of excited atomic states, among others. These topics, in addition to being of great importance to theoretical physicists, are the basis of many technological developments. For example, global positional systems (GPS) are based on the predictions of relativity theory about time and the effect of gravity over time measurement. Divided into six chapters, the volume discusses how the concept of time is present in the main fields of physics, such as classical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and theory of relativity. Illustrative examples and case studies are included in each chapter. The volume includes an analysis of themes related to time such as causality and the arrows of time, spooky action at distance and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Paradox, quantum mechanics and entangled states, apparent superluminal velocity, and time reversal. This book, Looking at Time from a Physics Perspective, will contribute to the understanding of concepts learned in courses on classical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics and relativity, reviewing the implications of the time variable for the description of the different physical phenomena at the microscopic and macroscopic level.

High Power Electromagnetic Effects On Electronic Systems written by D.V. Giri and has been published by Artech House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-31 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This is the first book that comprehensively addresses the issues relating to the effects of radio frequency (RF) signals and the environment of electrical and electronic systems. It covers testing methods as well as methods to analyze radio frequency. The generation of high-powered electromagnetic (HPEM) environments, including moderate band damped sinusoidal radiators and hyperband radiating systems is explored. HPEM effects on component, circuit, sub-system electronics, as well as system level drawing are discussed. The effects of HPEM on experimental techniques and the standards which can be used to control tests are described. The validity of analytical techniques and computational modeling in a HPEM effects context is also discussed. Insight on HPEM effects experimental techniques and the standards which can be used to control tests is provided, and the validity of analytical techniques and computational modeling in a HPEM effects context is discussed. This book dispels myths, clarifies good experimental practice and ultimately draws conclusions on the HPEM interaction with electronics. Readers will learn to consider the importance of HPEM phenomena as a threat to modern electronic based technologies which underpin society and to therefore be pre-emptive in the consideration of HPEM resilience.

Today, there are various textbooks dealing with a broad range of topics in the power system area of electrical engineering. Some of them are considered to be classics. However, they do not particularly concentrate on topics dealing with electric power transmission. Therefore, Electrical Power Transmission System Engineering: Analysis and Design, as a textbook, is unique; it is written specifically for an in-depth study of modern power transmission engineering. Written in the classic, self-learning style of the original, Electrical Power Transmission System Engineering: Analysis and Design, Fourth Edition is updated and features: HVDC system operation and control Renewable energy (including wind and solar energy) Detailed numerical examples and problems MATLAB® applications This book includes a comprehensive and systematic introduction of electric power transmission systems, from basic transmission planning and concepts to various available types of transmission systems. Written particularly for a student or practicing engineer who may want to teach himself or herself, the basic material has been explained carefully, clearly, and in detail with numerous examples, which is also useful for professors. In addition to detailed basic knowledge of transmission lines, new components enabling modern electronics and renewable penetrated transmission systems are emphasized. The discussion goes beyond the usual analytical and qualitative analysis to cover overall aspects of transmission system analysis and design. The enhanced ebook version includes interactive true and false questions, quizzes and homework problems for all the chapters. This book is an invaluable resource which empowers engineers, researchers, and students to navigate the dynamic landscape of electric power transmission system.

With the evolution of semiconductor technology and global diversification of the semiconductor business, testing of semiconductor devices to systems for electrostatic discharge (ESD) and electrical overstress (EOS) has increased in importance. ESD Testing: From Components to Systems updates the reader in the new tests, test models, and techniques in the characterization of semiconductor components for ESD, EOS, and latchup. Key features: Provides understanding and knowledge of ESD models and specifications including human body model (HBM), machine model (MM), charged device model (CDM), charged board model (CBM), cable discharge events (CDE), human metal model (HMM), IEC 61000-4-2 and IEC 61000-4-5. Discusses new testing methodologies such as transmission line pulse (TLP), to very fast transmission line pulse (VF-TLP), and future methods of long pulse TLP, to ultra-fast TLP (UF-TLP). Describes both conventional testing and new testing techniques for both chip and system level evaluation. Addresses EOS testing, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) scanning, to current reconstruction methods. Discusses latchup characterization and testing methodologies for evaluation of semiconductor technology to product testing. ESD Testing: From Components to Systems is part of the authors’ series of books on electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection; this book will be an invaluable reference for the professional semiconductor chip and system-level ESD and EOS test engineer. Semiconductor device and process development, circuit designers, quality, reliability and failure analysis engineers will also find it an essential reference. In addition, its academic treatment will appeal to both senior and graduate students with interests in semiconductor process, device physics, semiconductor testing and experimental work.
