Suor Eugenia invece lo ricorda molto bene ed è per questo che dedica la sua vita agli altri. Ha nascosto prostitute nei conventi per salvarle dalla strada. Ha parlato all'Onu in qualità di esperta di traffico delle donne. Ha superato un posto di blocco di soldati nigeriani offrendo rosari benedetti dal Papa. Ha collaborato con le forze di polizia italiane per salvare decine di giovani rapite e vendute e porta ogni settimana aiuto e conforto a quelle recluse nel Cie di Ponte Galeria. Da via Salaria a Roma al quartiere a luci rosse di Amsterdam, si è inoltrata nei luoghi più sordidi del mercato dei corpi. E nel febbraio 2011 ha infiammato Piazza del popolo con il suo discorso alla manifestazione "Se non ora, quando?". Con Spezzare le catene lancia un appello rivolto a tutti, non solo alle donne: ribelliamoci, riprendiamoci una dignità calpestata dagli scandali, dalla volgarità dei media, dal traffico di esseri umani. La nostra società si sta impoverendo di giorno in giorno: salviamola, e salviamoci.

The gender gap that traverses the planet is one of the most blatant democratic failures, and it is no longer an additional or accessory issue but one that is crucial to the wellbeing of both men and women. The aim of the book is to stimulate reflection on the role of education in the establishment of gender identities and in fostering the human rights of women in contemporary society.
