Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Unser gesellschaftliches Leben ist im Wandel begriffen. Eltern, Lehrer, Erzieher, Sozialpädagogen und Therapeuten – alle, die in irgendeiner Form mit der Bildung und Erziehung von Menschen befasst sind, werden mit Spielen aller Art konfrontiert. Fritz (1993) nennt es ein „ (...) ’Urphänomen’, das es im pädagogischen Bereich einfach gibt und das sich nicht ausklammern lässt (...). So gesehen ist jeder Pädagoge zugleich auch Spielpädagoge – bewusst oder unbewusst, gut oder schlecht“. In dieser Arbeit schreibe ich über die Kategorie Spiele, zu denen u.a. Schach, Go, Mühle, Dame, Halma, Backgammon, Skat, Rommé, Bridge, Memory, Mikado, Domino, Mensch ärgere dich nicht, Monopoly, Die Siedler von Catan, Scrabble usw. gehören, also Brett- und Kartenspiele. Einen eindeutigen Oberbegriff für diese Spiele gibt es bisher nicht. Begriffe wie Brett- oder Gesellschaftsspiel, Tisch-, Karton- oder Wettbewerbsspiel reichen nicht aus, diese Spiele umfassend zu beschreiben. Der Begriff Regelspiel eignet sich wohl noch am ehesten als Oberbegriff. Die Ludotheken in Deutschland – wir sprechen hier von ca. 100 Einrichtungen, die im gesamten Bundesgebiet unterschiedlich eingerichtet sind – sind historisch gesehen noch junge Einrichtungen. Es gibt sie erst seit ca. 35 Jahren. Jährlich entstehen neue Ludotheken. Auch wenn ihre Existenz noch nicht jedem Bundesbürger bewusst ist und so mancher ihre Arbeit nicht einzuschätzen vermag, sind sie eine Erscheinung unserer Zeit und für das Gemeinwesen und die Kulturlandschaft eine Errungenschaft. Gerade in Zeiten knapper Kassen und gesellschaftlicher Umbrüche ermöglichen sie auch jenen Bürgern den Zugang zum Kulturgut Spiel, denen es aufgrund ihrer Arbeitslosigkeit zwar nicht an Zeit, wohl aber an Geld mangelt, sich das zunehmend beliebter werdende Medium Spiel zu leisten. Obwohl das Arbeitsgebiet der Ludotheken umrissen ist, sind sie noch immer auf der Suche nach einem umfassenden pädagogischen Konzept. Der Dachverband der deutschen Ludotheken – der Verband Deutscher Spieliotheken/ Ludotheken (vdsl) – bemüht sich, nach Jahren der Stagnation der Arbeit des Verbandes, seit dem Vorstandswechsel 2003 um eine kontinuierliche Arbeit mit allen Ludotheken in Deutschland und die Ausarbeitung einer inhaltlichen Leitlinie. Bisher ist es noch nicht gelungen, alle Ludotheken im Dachverband zu organisieren und in jedem Bundesland einen Landesverband zu gründen. Die seit den 70er Jahren des 20.
