(Karlheinz Steinmüller in "Das Science Fiction Jahr 1996", S. 713) - "Karsten Kruschel refers to the ambivalence in ambiguous utopie in terms of 'the presence of a variety of possible interpretations'. He uses the category of ambiguous utopia to characterize those novels of this period that were neither utopia or dystopia." (Sonja Fritzsche in "Science Fiction Literature in East Germany", S. 124) INHALT: Dank 1. Einleitung 2. Verwandtschaften, Strukturen, Motive 3.

Science Fiktion written by Franz Fühmann and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-02-05 with categories.

When a young reader once asked Franz Fühmann if he considered his work to be science fiction, he was quick to deny it: he wanted nothing to do with the genre. As he began writing the stories that make up this volume, however, he found himself coming around to the idea of a hybrid genre--what he calls in German Saiäns-Fiktschen, 'science fiktion' with a k. In seven interlocking stories, Science Fiktion offers a steampunk takedown of the logic of the Cold War. In this imagined future, two nations compete for global dominance: Uniterr, an exaggeration of the Eastern Bloc, in which personal freedom is curtailed and life regulated with cartoonish strictness; and Libroterr, in which the decadence of the West has been pushed beyond all reason. The stories follow three young citizens of Uniterr: Jirro, a young neutrinologist whose life is forever changed by a year spent abroad in Libroterr; Janno, a causologist condemned to a life of mediocrity in Uniterr's bureacracy for the briefest of impure thoughts; and Pavlo, an inventor and a drunkard, whose mind pushes against the limits of what his world allows. Through these three lives, Fühmann gradually unfolds the contours of their bizarre world in a master class of understated world making. As the reader is swept up in the madness of Libroterr's predator ads (which grab you on the street) and Uniterr's mandatory mind readings, Fühmann's dark comedy from the last century comes to seem all the more prescient in ours. A German twist on an Anglophone tradition, Science Fiktion provides a disturbing vision of the future from the other side of the Berlin Wall.

Walk About The Villages written by Peter Handke and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996 with Drama categories.

Peter Handke's dramatic poem Walk about the Villages is the fourth part of Handke's "homecoming cycle", whose other three parts (A Slow Homecoming, The Lesson of St. Victoire, and A Child Story) can be found under the American title A Slow Homecoming. The underlying story line of Walk about the Villages could not be simpler. The "prodigal" writer Gregor returns to his home village. He and his brother Hans, a construction worker, and his shopkeeper sister have a dispute over the disposition of the house which the parents had built and the land which they had cleared with their own hands many years before. Within this straightforward conflict, Handke touches upon almost every aspect of our existence. It is a lyrical play, a poetic drama on the order of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, and Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood. It is an "Everyman and Everywoman" dramatic poem for our time.

In the same way Caravaggio was the inspiration behind "Jewels in Painting," so Fra Angelico is the starting point for "Children in Painting." It was while I was looking at his "Last Judgement" in the convent of San Marco in Florence that two child angels filled me with happiness. They are meeting in Paradise and embrace with tenderness before entering the dance of eternal happiness. They make you believe in true love. Fra Angelico is divine but is a child so? From the day of his birth until the age of ten, one might believe so. This is the reason why no child over ten features in this book. Having a child is a universal desire. A child is life, a child is love. Having to choose amongst an infinite number of pictures, I have attempted to select the most representative ones in Italian, German, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, English, American, Swiss and French painting, in which children play, laugh, kiss, cry, eat or sleep. Each of them reveals a masterpiece, in which the artist has exchanged his knowledge for a marvellous innocence. the ordinary becomes extraordinary, truth reveals beauty and beauty reveals truth. This book is as much for adults as it is for children, who will hopefully be encouraged to delve further into the world of art. To understand it is to start loving it: admire it and let yourself be carried away from everyday's routine.
