Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2003 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Wissenschaftstheorie, Anthropologie, Note: 1,3, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Inst. für Sozialpädagogiik, Weiterbildung und empirische Pädagogik), Veranstaltung: Qualitative Forschungsmethoden: Biografieforschung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Einleitung Während ich die erste Literatur zu dieser Seminararbeit sichtete und querlas, kam mir, ausgehend von den Gedankengängen Burkhard FUHS1 die Idee, diese Arbeit nicht nur in einem theoretischen Kontext zu belassen, sondern wesentliche Problempunkte der Fragestellung anhand der Langzeitstudie Herlinde KOELBLS „Spuren der Macht. Die Verwandlung des Menschen durch das Amt“ zu eruieren. KOELBL hat von 1991 bis 1998 einschlägige Personen des gesellschafts- und wirtschaftspolitischen Lebens in Deutschland fotografiert und lieferte 1999 einen beachtlichen Bildband aus, in dem neben den Fotografien auch die Interviews (gehalten während der einzelnen Fototermine) enthalten sind. Das Buchprojekt ist daher für das Anliegen dieser Arbeit ein Glücksfall, denn der ausschließliche Bezug auf methodische Aspekte der Fotografie in der Sozialforschung würde dem Seminarthema „Biografieforschung“ nicht gerecht werden. Der Bezug auf das KOELBL-Projekt kompensiert diesen Sachverhalt und gibt zudem – neben aller Theorie in der qualitativen Forschung – angemessene Möglichkeiten, die Theorien greifbar werden zu lassen. Die Struktur der Arbeit ist demnach eine Zweiteilung: Zunächst geht es grundsätzlich um Methoden qualitativer Sozialforschung. Schwerpunkt dieser Ausführungen ist die Darstellung des Prinzips der Triangulation. Ein besonderer Akzent liegt dem Thema dieser Arbeit gemäß in der Schilderung der Besonderheiten des Mediums „Fotografie“. Die Fragen und Erkenntnisse werden im zweiten Teil der Arbeit angewendet. Ich habe aus dem Bildband „Spuren der Macht“ die Portraitfotos mit dem Außenpolitiker Joschka FISCHER (B’90 – Die Grünen) ausgewählt. Anhand dieser Aufnahmen - gekoppelt mit Interviewstatements und biografischen Fakten - soll überprüft werden, ob die Erkenntnisse des ersten Teils der Arbeit in diesem speziellen Fall „greifen“. Dabei soll es keine Rolle spielen, ob KOELBL reflektiv gearbeitet hat, dass ihr also die wesentliche Methodik qualitativer Sozialforschung bewusst war. Eine abschließende Bewertung der Fotostudie unter Berücksichtigung der Arbeitsergebnisse (also unter sozialwissenschaftlich-empririschen Gesichtspunkten) und unter Einbezug ausgewählter Rezensionen in der Presse schließt die Arbeit ab.

Die Studie eröffnet einen neuen Blick auf den Entstehungsprozess kommunaler Schriftkultur in einer europäischen Großstadt des Spätmittelalters. Dabei zeigt die Geschichte der umfangreichen Überlieferung Augsburgs, wie mehrere Generationen städtischer Autoritäten im Zuge wachsender Emanzipation zunehmend auf Schriftlichkeit angewiesen waren und eigene Bedürfnisse der Archivierung ausprägten. Die Verschriftlichung war ein komplexer Prozess, der wichtige Lebensbereiche und Teile der städtischen Gesellschaft in unterschiedlicher Zeit und Intensität erfasste. Weniger als bisher angenommen ging es dabei um die pragmatische Effektivierung des Regierungshandelns. Die Antriebskraft der Verschriftlichung im Spätmittelalter entsprang einem wachsenden Bedürfnis nach Kontrolle und Überprüfbarkeit.
