Review:"Minister Tobin travels with other members of the Church who work for intelligence in the disguise of basketball players with the direction of the President's Intel Agency to report anything that looks suspicious and help with a world crisis as he spreads the Gospel. The Intel Agency promises great rewards with even greater risk as he finds himself spreading the good word to Kim Jong around the event of an exhibition game with the St. John's Red Storm. Other military and spy characters are caught up in the intrigue of a President who may see WWIII. While in North Korea, Tobin encounters others who are involved with the national crisis and have few options. This is a fictional account with all characters that may resemble or depict actual people being purely fiction. Review:This one-hour short read suspense thriller includes an interesting back-story. Those who are interested in the Church changing the world through the gospel, will enjoy the protagonist's opening into North Korea through sports and an unexpected interest in religion. The other characters add some colorful background involving the Intelligence and soft diplomacy. The modern, political environment of an arms race and a lay minister who are in place for diplomacy provide story lines with common threads and three-dimensional characters. The intensity of a full-blown missile crisis begins at the start of the story and follows a roller-coaster path of easing and growing tensions. The inside story picks up with more suspense about the protagonist and a love interest that builds in the closing chapters. The bonus storyline is part of a fictional account of two agents joining the St. John's basketball team to intercept nuclear warheads and dismantle them before they reach a lab in North Korea where they can be married to missiles. This story provides insight into soft diplomacy through non-political interests of a foreign leader who could destroy the world. Author:Born in Sacramento, California, to native, New Yorker parents. He grew up in Ogden, Utah, and lives in the Rocky Mountains and Great Basin of Salt Lake City, Utah. Since graduating from The University of Utah and Baruch College (CUNY), he has written over twenty journals and published books. Prior to writing, he worked in Advertising at Lowe & Partners in New York.

WINNER OF THE SAMUEL ELIOT MORISON AWARD FOR NAVAL LITERATURE “I devoured Act of War the way I did Flyboys, Flags of Our Fathers and Lost in Shangri-la.”—Michael Connelly, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author In 1968, the small, dilapidated American spy ship USS Pueblo set out to pinpoint military radar stations along the coast of North Korea. Though packed with advanced electronic-surveillance equipment and classified intelligence documents, its crew, led by ex–submarine officer Pete Bucher, was made up mostly of untested young sailors. On a frigid January morning, the Pueblo was challenged by a North Korean gunboat. When Bucher tried to escape, his ship was quickly surrounded by more boats, shelled and machine-gunned, forced to surrender, and taken prisoner. Less than forty-eight hours before the Pueblo’s capture, North Korean commandos had nearly succeeded in assassinating South Korea’s president. The two explosive incidents pushed Cold War tensions toward a flashpoint. Based on extensive interviews and numerous government documents released through the Freedom of Information Act, Act of War tells the riveting saga of Bucher and his men as they struggled to survive merciless torture and horrendous living conditions set against the backdrop of an international powder keg.
