Eddy Fraiture, schrijver van het ophefmakende boek 'Uurwerkmakers en uurwerknijverheid in Vlaanderen' wandelt in dit nieuwe boek door onbekende rijkdom van de staande klokken in Vlaanderen. Hij belicht de evolutie van de staande klokken in de omliggende landen, verklaart het verschil tussen Vlaamse en Limburgse uurwerken en schetst de evolutie van de wijzerplaatvorm. Hij onderzoekt de verschillende aspecten waarop men moet letten bij de aanschaf en het onderhoud van een staande klok. De auteur vermeldt de nog overgebleven werken en rangschikt deze chronologisch of volgens de nummering van de horlogemaker zelf. Dit standaardwerk moet op de boekenplank staan van elke Vlaming die zijn verleden koestert, maar ook op deze van alle uurwerkliefhebbers, antiquairs of verzamelaars: zij vinden hier een onuitputtelijke schat aan nuttige en degelijke informatie.

Eddy Fraiture (1942) schreef een aantal dichtbundels, was actief in de kleinkunstwereld, kende succes als atleet, maar in zijn passie voor uurwerken zette hij nog een stap verder.
