This open access book addresses the protection of privacy and personality rights in public records, records management, historical sources, and archives; and historical and current access to them in a broad international comparative perspective. Considering the question "can archiving pose a security risk to the protection of sensitive data and human rights?", it analyses data security and presents several significant cases of the misuse of sensitive personal data, such as census data or medical records. It examines archival inflation and the minimisation and reduction of data in public records and archives, including data anonymisation and pseudonymisation, and the risks of deanonymisation and reidentification of persons. The book looks at post-mortem privacy protection, the relationship of the right to know and the right to be forgotten and introduces a specific model of four categories of the right to be forgotten. In its conclusion, the book presents a set of recommendations for archives and records management. Mikulas Ctvrtnik, Ph.D. visiting assistant professor at Charles University in Prague, and assistant professor at Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem. Mit dem 1922 und 1923 erlassenen Reichsjugendwohlfahrtsgesetz (RJWG) und Reichsjugendgerichtsgesetz (RJGG) entstanden erstmals reichseinheitlich gültige Regelungen der Jugendfürsorge und des Jugendstrafrechts. Das RJGG definierte Personen zwischen dem 14. und 18. Lebensjahr juristisch erstmals als Jugendliche und setzte "Erziehung vor Strafe" – ein Novum. The anti-authoritarian revolt of the 1960s and 1970s was a watershed in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany. The rebellion of the so-called '68ers' - against cultural conformity and the ideological imperatives of the Cold War, against the American war in Vietnam, and in favor of a more open accounting for the crimes of the Nazi era - helped to inspire a dialogue on democratization with profound effects on German society. Timothy Scott Brown examines the unique synthesis of globalizing influences on West Germany to reveal how the presence of Third World students, imported pop culture from America and England, and the influence of new political doctrines worldwide all helped to precipitate the revolt. The book explains how the events in West Germany grew out of a new interplay of radical politics and popular culture, even as they drew on principles of direct-democracy, self-organization and self-determination, all still highly relevant in the present day.

Neue Sichtweisen auf den Osnabrücker Bürgermeister und hannoverschen Innenminister Johann Carl Bertram Stüve Johann Carl Bertram Stüve gehört heute zu den vergessenen Politikern des 19. Jahrhunderts. Als langjähriger Bürgermeister der Stadt Osnabrück und Innenminister des Königreichs Hannover (1848-1850) galt er in den 1830er Jahren zunächst als Liberaler, der sich für die Bauernbefreiung und das hannoversche Staatsgrundgesetz einsetzte. Sein Eintreten gegen die einseitige Aufhebung des Grundgesetzes durch Ernst August 1837 machte ihn deutschlandweit bekannt. Als sich Stüve nach 1848 zum Gegner der Mehrheit der Frankfurter Nationalversammlung entwickelte, die einen kleindeutschen Nationalstaat unter Preußens Führung forderte, brachte ihm dies die Diskreditierung durch die borussische Geschichtsschreibung ein. Der Tagungsband nimmt zentrale Stationen von Stüves Leben und Wirken sowie seine politischen und persönlichen Überzeugungen neu in den Blick und zieht ein Resümee der bisherigen Stüve-Forschung.
