State Space Search written by Weixiong Zhang and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

This book is particularly concerned with heuristic state-space search for combinatorial optimization. Its two central themes are the average-case complexity of state-space search algorithms and the applications of the results notably to branch-and-bound techniques. Primarily written for researchers in computer science, the author presupposes a basic familiarity with complexity theory, and it is assumed that the reader is familiar with the basic concepts of random variables and recursive functions. Two successful applications are presented in depth: one is a set of state-space transformation methods which can be used to find approximate solutions quickly, and the second is forward estimation for constructing more informative evaluation functions.

Stochastic Local Search algorithms were shown to give state-of-the-art results for many other problems, but little is known on how to design and analyse them for Multiobjective Combinatorial Optimization Problems. This book aims to fill this gap. It defines two search models that correspond to two distinct ways of tackling MCOPs by SLS algorithms."

Multi-Objective Combinatorial Optimization Problems and Solution Methods discusses the results of a recent multi-objective combinatorial optimization achievement that considered metaheuristic, mathematical programming, heuristic, hyper heuristic and hybrid approaches. In other words, the book presents various multi-objective combinatorial optimization issues that may benefit from different methods in theory and practice. Combinatorial optimization problems appear in a wide range of applications in operations research, engineering, biological sciences and computer science, hence many optimization approaches have been developed that link the discrete universe to the continuous universe through geometric, analytic and algebraic techniques. This book covers this important topic as computational optimization has become increasingly popular as design optimization and its applications in engineering and industry have become ever more important due to more stringent design requirements in modern engineering practice. Presents a collection of the most up-to-date research, providing a complete overview of multi-objective combinatorial optimization problems and applications Introduces new approaches to handle different engineering and science problems, providing the field with a collection of related research not already covered in the primary literature Demonstrates the efficiency and power of the various algorithms, problems and solutions, including numerous examples that illustrate concepts and algorithms

The comprehensive introduction to the art and science of locating facilities to make your organization more efficient, effective, and profitable. For the professional siting facilities, the task of translating organizational goals and objectives into concrete facilities requires a working familiarity with the theoretical and practical fundamentals of facility location planning and modeling. The first hands-on guide to using and developing facility location models, Network and Discrete Location offers a practiceoriented introduction to model-building methods and solution algorithms, complete with software to solve classical problems of realistic size and end-of-chapter exercises to enhance the reader's understanding. The text introduces the reader to the key classical location problems (covering, center, median, and fixed charge) which form the nucleus of facility location modeling. It also discusses real-life extensions of the basic models used in locating: production and distribution facilities, interacting services and facilities, and undesirable facilities. The book outlines a host of methodological tools for solving location models and provides insights into when each approach is useful and what information it provides. Designed to give readers a working familiarity with the basic facility location model types as well as an intuitive knowledge of the uses and limits of modeling techniques, Network and Discrete Location brings students and professionals alike swiftly from basic theory to technical fluency.

Hybrid Predictive Control For Dynamic Transport Problems written by Alfredo Nunez and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-10-04 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Hybrid Predictive Control for Dynamic Transport Problems develops methods for the design of predictive control strategies for nonlinear-dynamic hybrid discrete-/continuous-variable systems. The methodology is designed for real-time applications, particularly the study of dynamic transport systems. Operational and service policies are considered, as well as cost reduction. The control structure is based on a sound definition of the key variables and their evolution. A flexible objective function able to capture the predictive behaviour of the system variables is described. Coupled with efficient algorithms, mainly drawn from area of computational intelligence, this is shown to optimize performance indices for real-time applications. The framework of the proposed predictive control methodology is generic and, being able to solve nonlinear mixed integer optimization problems dynamically, is readily extendable to other industrial processes. The main topics of this book are: · hybrid predictive control (HPC) design based on evolutionary multiobjective optimization (EMO); · HPC based on EMO for dial-a-ride systems; and · HPC based on EMO for operational decisions in public transport systems. Hybrid Predictive Control for Dynamic Transport Problems is a comprehensive analysis of HPC and its application to dynamic transport systems. Introductory material on evolutionary algorithms is presented in summary in an appendix. The text will be of interest to control and transport engineers working on the operational optimization of transport systems and to academic researchers working with hybrid systems. The potential applications of the generic methods presented here to other process fields will make the book of interest to a wider group of researchers, scientists and graduate students working in other control-related disciplines.

Computational intelligence is a general term for a class of algorithms designed by nature's wisdom and human intelligence. Computer scientists have proposed many computational intelligence algorithms with heuristic features. These algorithms either mimic the evolutionary processes of the biological world, mimic the physiological structure and bodily functions of the organism, imitate the behavior of the animal's group, mimic the characteristics of human thought, language, and memory processes, or mimic the physical phenomena of nature, hoping to simulate the wisdom of nature and humanity enables an optimal solution to the problem and solves an acceptable solution in an acceptable time. Computational intelligent algorithms have received extensive attention at home and abroad, and have become an important research direction of artificial intelligence and computer science. This book will introduce the application of intelligent optimization algorithms in detail from the aspects of computational intelligence, job shop scheduling problems, multi-objective optimization problems, and machine learning
