When I think of all my possessions to include any wealth in savings or retirement funds-my home and cars; my health, the strength of my body and mind; all that I have accomplished; my talents, titles, or degrees-is there anything that I can claim aside from the magnificent grace of God? To gain a better understanding of my role as steward, it is necessary for me to renew my mind and reflect upon what God's Word says about stewardship. To prepare for His return, the King's Keeper will help me discover: 1. those characteristics of the life of a good steward that are pleasing to the King and that will help me demonstrate faithful service without reason for question; 2. how I can steward God's creation; 3. how to steward myself and understand the proper alignment of the body, soul, and spirit for kingdom service; 4. how I can steward my time so that it is pleasing to my heavenly Father, being all about His business; 5. how I can take an honest look at my attitude and behavior concerning my possessions and come into alignment with the desires of the King; 6. how I can steward God's Word and be found faithfully administering the mysteries of the Word of God in love, always giving the glory to Him; 7. how I can steward God's manifold grace and be found fully operating in the gifts in which I have been given for kingdom service; 8. how I can engage my community as a kingdom representative; and 9. how I can tend to the precious relationships in which I have been trusted. A steward must always be ready for the master's return, and the King may return at any time!

In this kingdom, we rise not just by desire but how much light we have accessed and engaged. So desire alone will not get you any where in this kingdom. Our society is full of desires. That is wonderful except for the fact that desire alone will not amount to anything. People desire to carry the anointing, prosperity, influence, etc. But they just stop at the level of desire and believe that that is all that they need to do. No.Desire sponsor the appetite for pursuit. With desire, you will defy every excuse and consequences and just pursue. Your desire gives you the inner strength and tenacity to pursue. If and when you have the encounter, you have access to it now, the next thing is to put your understanding to work, engage that truth you know. The engaging part is where I do believe that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ has failed.

Many preachers have taught on stewardship in reference to our money and our time, but both money and time are temporary commodities of this earthly life. Jesus used the parables about stewardship in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke to teach about the Kingdom of God. Parables are used to liken something people could understand to something that they may not have understood in any other teaching. Likewise, when Jesus taught about the sower and the seed, He did not intend for believers to become better farmers or gardeners. Since believers do not use the parable of the sower and the seed to learn about gardening, why is it that they use the parables of the talents and the pounds to teach that stewardship is referring to actual money or time? As Paul was writing to the Church of Corinth, he told them, "Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God" (1 Corinthians 4:1). There is something of much more value than both money and time that God has placed into the hands of the church to take care of until He returns! This book was written so the believer can discover what God expects in us as His STEWARDS of the Mysteries of God!

The parable of the unjust steward in Luke 16:1-13 is a unity which teaches faithful stewardship of material possession against an eschatological backdrop. This interpretation is confirmed by examination of the pericope itself and progressively wider levels of context within Luke's Gospel. Chapter one provides a history of recent interpretations of the parable (nineteenth and twentieth centuries) as background for the ensuing study. Detailed exegesis of Luke 16:1-13 itself is found in chapter two. The investigation is broadened in chapter three to include the immediate and broader literary contexts (Luke 15-16 and 9:51-19:44, respectively). Chapter four examines the theological context, in particular the themes of riches and poverty and the kingdom of God. Chapter five summarizes the major conclusions of the book.
