5 settembre 1972, ore 4:30, villaggio olimpico di Monaco di Baviera. Un commando di terroristi palestinesi di Settembre nero fa irruzione negli alloggi della squadra israeliana. Comincia così la pagina più tragica della storia delle Olimpiadi e si concluderà solo 20 ore dopo con le cifre di una strage: 17 morti tra cui 11 israeliani, 5 palestinesi e un poliziotto tedesco. In quella squadra c'è anche Shaul Ladany, marciatore, l'unico sportivo israeliano che era sopravvissuto, bambino, a un campo di concentramento: Bergen-Belsen, lo stesso in cui morì Anna Frank.
