Years ago, my father would urge me to accompany him to the side porch of our home in order to tell me stories of happenings in his life while he was growing up. It was usually after the family evening meal and he would sit in his rocking chair, light up a cigar and begin one or two of his true stories. He never wrote down any of the stories he told me, but he was a master storyteller. I believe I got the idea of sharing lifes happenings from my father. But unlike him, I have chosen to write down a few. I have written them mainly for my family to read and enjoy. They know me so well. Each of the eight stories in this book are unrelated and they are all true. They are set in different places in different times in the authors life, each one with a unique story to tell. This book of short stories is written for older children, teenagers and adults. The author hopes readers will find that the stories shared are an amusing read.

The Camino―or The Way―to Santiago is a five-hundred-mile, thirty-three-day walk across Spain's extreme conditions to reach the beloved Cathedral of Santiago. Ron “Willie” Williams walked The Way two and a half times, a total of twelve hundred miles. Why? It is less about what he gains, and more about what he loses along The Way―old behaviors, unforgiveness, and a tendency to play God. Journey with Willie through the chapters of Lost and Found Along The Way, as he sheds these tendencies, and in doing so finds a renewed, richer, and deeper faith. The first few chapters are narrative historical fiction portraying James in Acts 12:2 facing his execution along with supposed reactions from his loved ones. At the end of this narrative, we transition back to nonfiction with the discovery of James' gravesite some eight hundred years after his martyrdom. Willie then explains how the Camino pilgrimages began along the Camino, also known as, The Way. No other nonfiction book offers such a unique back story of Saint James and the Camino. The following chapters, and the bulk of the book, follow Willie's own Camino journeys, present vivid descriptions of the geography on the trail and historical background provide readers with a nearly firsthand experience of The Camino de Santiago. True and dramatic faith walk stories demonstrate God's hand in people's lives and guide readers to dig deeper into their own spiritual life and get outside their comfort zone. The final chapter of Lost and Found Along The Way instructs fellow sojourners in how to follow Willie's example to strengthen their own faith and share it with those who have lost their own faith―no hiking boots required.

Along The Way written by Paul Phillips and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-26 with categories.

Told with humor and style, author Paul Phillips offers a collection of short memoirs in Along the Way. He begins with a description of the struggles of a sixty year-old when the computerization of his office forces him to learn how to type. He eventually joins an online course designed to teach young children, but he can't keep up with the program's green alligator. In Along the Way, Phillips narrates a story from the beginning of his adult life, a trip to a draft board physical where he meets two of the few the Army rejects. He also tells of becoming involved--involuntarily--in an informal fishing competition with a famous athlete. Next, he watches a future political star and his soon-to-be wife put on a professional quality dance exhibition at a college prom chaperoned by nuns. Later, Phillips' company sends him on trips to Japan where a WWII Japanese Navy pilot challenges him to eat a live prawn. Then a Japanese family confiscates his clothes while he is taking a bath at the beginning of a real Japanese weekend. This collection shares a variety of stories from his life, including descriptions of his last day at work, unusual encounters while dining out, experiences at college reunions, and anecdotes about simple incidents he experienced.

WINNER OF THE NOBEL PRIZE© IN LITERATURE 2013 A New York Times Notable Book A Washington Post Notable Work of Fiction A Best Book of the Year: The Atlantic, NPR, San Francisco Chronicle, Vogue, AV Club In story after story in this brilliant new collection, Alice Munro pinpoints the moment a person is forever altered by a chance encounter, an action not taken, or a simple twist of fate. Her characters are flawed and fully human: a soldier returning from war and avoiding his fiancée, a wealthy woman deciding whether to confront a blackmailer, an adulterous mother and her neglected children, a guilt-ridden father, a young teacher jilted by her employer. Illumined by Munro’s unflinching insight, these lives draw us in with their quiet depth and surprise us with unexpected turns. And while most are set in her signature territory around Lake Huron, some strike even closer to home: an astonishing suite of four autobiographical tales offers an unprecedented glimpse into Munro’s own childhood. Exalted by her clarity of vision and her unparalleled gift for storytelling, Dear Life shows how strange, perilous, and extraordinary ordinary life can be.

Along The Way written by Martin Sheen and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-10 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

Spanning nearly 50 years of family history, the book chronicles the remarkable lives of two creative talents, Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez. It's a story of father and son set against the backdrop of Hollywood; this narrative is organized around their physical and spiritual journey along the Camino de Santiago, Spain, the thousand-year-old pilgrimage path which traverses Galicia. It is the area from which Sheen's father emigrated to the U.S. and to which Estevez's own son has returned. Along the Waywill focus not just on the lives these men have chosen as artists, but also (and most importantly) on the one they have lived together. It is a story of family bonds and artistic advances and setbacks; of good choices and hard choices; of opportunities lost and opportunities found. Sheen and Estevez will share what they have experienced and learned from each other in their forty eight years as father and son, as fathers of sons, as actors and director, as spiritual seekers, and as concerned citizens of the world. Readers will meet them as real people rather than icons, as two men who have accumulated decades of wisdom and insight they are now ready to share.
