Abstract: Street Art is an illicit sub-cultural activity that has permeated into various design applications in recent years. These ranges from design motifs on products to themes on television commercials. In 2008, Barack Obama commissioned Street Artist Shepard Fairey to design the posters for his presidency campaign. Barack Obama was elected as the president of United States in 2009 and Fairey's HOPE poster has since been acquired by the U.S National Portrait Gallery; it was also officially made a permanent collection. This thesis intent to use the framework of the Blue Ocean Strategy to identify characteristics that have facilitated Street Art's translation into mainstream design applications. Understanding these characteristics can provide designers with foresight to similar emerging cultural phenomena. In addition, this thesis attempts to contribute to the existing body of work on Street Art.

Street Art Invasion, di Agnese Tonelli, nasce per divulgare l’idea di autonomia e di spontaneità dell’arte. La sua applicazione in spazi aperti crea un connubio tra l’artista e l’urbanizzazione, al fine di trasformare i luoghi, donando loro unicità e bellezza e divenendo fenomeno culturale di grande rilevanza sociale. Agnese Tonelli, con un linguaggio semplice ma perfettamente esplicativo, rende l’argomento notevolmente interessante, in grado di suscitare curiosità. L’apporto di numerose immagini e la condivisione del pensiero artistico di alcuni esponenti del movimento completano e impreziosiscono il testo. Agnese Tonelli classe 1986, appassionata di semiotica dell’arte e all’universo che ruota attorno all’arte pubblica e urbana contemporanea, ha studiato all’università di Bologna laureandosi al Dams Corso Arte e conseguendo un Master in Museologia, Conservazione e valorizzazione dei beni culturali. Dopo la quinquennale esperienza presso una galleria espositiva di Venezia, inizia a lavorare presso un importante Museo del bolognese.
