Abstract: The purpose of the study was to create a greater understanding on how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the academic performance and mental well-being of students through the perspective of educators. Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the study is designed to incorporate the direct experiences that current educators have had and outcomes as a result of distance learning on students. This research is meant to educate current and future educators and school social workers on the continued ramifications that the pandemic had on adolescent academia and mental well-being. Participants were requested their participation through convenience and snowball sampling. The interviews were conducted via Zoom, an online video platform. The results of the study discovered that distance learning resulted in delays academically and developmentally, increases in conflict, psychological distress, withdrawal, decreased in-person involvement from parents and families, difficulty staffing classrooms with competent and qualified instructors, and a desire for clear structure and adjusted expectations on educators and students alike if this were to occur again. The implications of this study demonstrated that there is a direct relationship between the academic performance and mental well-being of students. This implies that creating additional emphasis and focus on the mental health aspect of a student is important to work towards educational success.
