Anschließend befasse ich mich mit dem Thema Sturz. Dies dient der Grundlage um sich ein besseres Bild machen zu können bezüglich der Häufigkeit, der Folgen und der Kosten eines Stutzes. Im nächsten Kapitel werden altersbedingte sowie von außen Einfluss nehmende Risikofaktoren beschrieben die in Folge zu einem Sturz führen können. Einer der Schwerpunkte dieser Arbeit ist die umfassende Sturzprävention und das Implementieren der Sturzprävention in die Pflegeplanung. Hier handelt es sich um das Erfassen des Sturzrisikos, das Analysieren der Ressourcen, Ziele müssen formuliert werden und dazu müssen passende Maßnahmen gesetzt werden. Für das Implementieren ist wichtig, das Bewohner, Mitarbeiter und mitwirkende anderer Gesundheitsdienstleister eng zusammen arbeiten. Das letzte Kapitel handelt über sturzpräventive Maßnahmen. Zu denen zählt das Trainieren der lokomotorischen Kompetenzen. Jeder Bewohner soll seinem allgemeinen Zustand individuell gefördert werden. Dies kann durch regelmäßiges Krafttraining, Gleichgewichtstraining und Multi-Tasking-Training erfolgen. Extrinsische Risikofaktoren müssen von Pflegepersonen erkannt werden und nach Möglichkeit ausgeschaltet werden. Zudem ist es noch von Bedeutung, dass Hilfsmittel richtig eingesetzt werden. Der Bewohner sollte sich nicht etwa der Gehilfe anpassen, sondern die Gehhilfe sollte den Bedürfnissen des Bewohners angepasst werden.
