[Stuttgart Church Service and Church Study] Pluralization and Internationalization of societies change the church landscape long term ;this fact is also true for Germany. The LIMRIS-study with its objective of the metropolitan region of Stuttgart (population: 2.7 million people) offers a new and unique perspective on given realities concerning this change. The fact that numbers and insights of this study paint a significantly different picture of church and Sunday worship services than what is typically transmitted via media makes this study so highly explosive. Supported by 85 high-quality graphics and maps, as well as a thoroughly detailed index, the Stuttgart study highlights phenomena for which we have lacked insight to date: the whole body of churches from an ecumenical perspective and its denominational differences, the plurality of Protestantism, current aspects of Pietism, international churches and the development of migrant independent churches, as well as the reality of local church worship services and their relevance.

»Mission in crisis« – this diagnosis makes immediate sense in view of the rapid decline of European Christian churches. However, there is a great deal of controversy as to what exactly this crisis consists of, what its actual causes are and what dynamics the crisis discourse itself exhibits. The contributions in this volume were held on an international conference that took place from November 25–27, 2022 at the University of Zurich. They pursue these questions from a mission-theological perspective and seek to open up new perspectives for the future of the church in both secular and plural societies. With contributions from: Heike Breitenstein, John G. Flett, Ralph Kunz, Sabrina Müller, Stefan Paas, Henk de Roest, Stefan Schweyer, Patrick Todjeras, Graham Tomlin, Benno van den Toren, and Henning Wrogemann.

Christfried Böttrich, Michael Domsgen, Tom Greggs, Annette Haußmann, Michael Herbst, Ralph Kunz, Sabrina Müller, Thomas Schlegel, Miroslav Volf, Henning Wrogemann und Miriam Zimmer. [»For We Cannot But Speak ...« Vitality as a Mark of the Sent Church] The contributions to this volume discuss the vitality of the current church in an international and interdisciplinary perspective. Could vitality even be called a ›mark of the church (nota ecclesiae)‹? The key concept of ›vitality‹ provides a hermeneutical and heuristic category that has until recently been rarely applied to the current as-is state of the church. Through this category the search for the identity of the church, i.e. what makes the church the church and how this is currently expressed, is organized in its multiple perspectives and gains a focus as regards content. This volume documents the international conference held by the Research Institute for Evangelism and Church Development (University of Greifswald) in 2022. At the same time it represents the opening of a new series called ›Mission & Context‹ which will explore questions of missional and contextual church development. Contributions by national and international scholars and researchers from the fields of Protestant Theology and the social sciences, including among others Christfried Böttrich, Michael Domsgen, Tom Greggs, Annette Haußmann, Michael Herbst, Ralph Kunz, Sabrina Müller, Thomas Schlegel, Miroslav Volf, Henning Wrogemann and Miriam Zimmer.

Husserl written by John J. Drummond and has been published by Fordham Univ Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-04 with Philosophy categories.

Edmund Husserl, generally regarded as the founding figure of phenomenology, exerted an enormous influence on the course of twentieth and twenty-first century philosophy. This volume collects and translates essays written by important German-speaking commentators on Husserl, ranging from his contemporaries to scholars of today, to make available in English some of the best commentary on Husserl and the phenomenological project. The essays focus on three problematics within phenomenology: the nature and method of phenomenology; intentionality, with its attendant issues of temporality and subjectivity; and intersubjectivity and culture. Several essays also deal with Martin Heidegger’s phenomenology, although in a manner that reveals not only Heidegger’s differences with Husserl but also his reliance on and indebtedness to Husserl’s phenomenology. Taken together, the book shows the continuing influence of Husserl’s thought, demonstrating how such subsequent developments as existentialism, hermeneutics, and deconstruction were defined in part by how they assimilated and departed from Husserlian insights. The course of what has come to be called continental philosophy cannot be described without reference to this assimilation and departure, and among the many successor approaches phenomenology remains a viable avenue for contemporary thought. In addition, problems addressed by Husserl—most notably, intentionality, consciousness, the emotions, and ethics—are of central concern in contemporary non-phenomenological philosophy, and many contemporary thinkers have turned to Husserl for guidance. The essays demonstrate how significant Husserl remains to contemporary philosophy across several traditions and several generations. Includes essays by Rudolf Bernet, Klaus Held, Ludwig Landgrebe, Dieter Lohmar, Verena Mayer and Christopher Erhard, Ullrich Melle, Karl Mertens, Ernst Wolfgang Orth, Jan Patočka, Sonja Rinofner-Kreidl, Karl Schuhmann, and Elisabeth Ströker.

This collection of essays, four of which are published in English for the first time, represents the life's work of the historian Tim Mason, one of the most original and perceptive scholars of National Socialism, who pioneered its social and labour history. His provocative articles and essays, written between 1964 and 1990, exhibit a combination of empirical rigour and theoretical astuteness which made them landmarks in the definition and elaboration of major debates in the historiography of National Socialism. These ten essays collect together Mason's most significant writings, including discussions of the domestic origins of the Second World War, the role of Hitler, and the character of working-class resistance, as well as his pathbreaking study of women under National Socialism, and examples of comparative work on fascism and Nazism. A complete bibliography of his publications is also appended.
