In this study the author outlines the areas desertic, flat and rural of the Palestine, detectable directly from an analytical reading of the Gospels, limited to the historical period relative to the advent of the incarnate Word until his resurrection. Il 14 maggio 2018 ricorreva l’anniversario della fondazione dello Stato di Israele, avvenuta nel 1948 in ottemperanza alla risoluzione delle Nazioni Unite del 29 novembre 1947. Nella ricorrenza di tale anniversario, il presidente Donald Trump ha voluto che avvenisse il trasferimento dell’ambasciata degli Stati Uniti da Tel Aviv a Gerusalemme. Questa decisione, oltre ad avere un forte significato simbolico, ha anche una grande rilevanza politica, in quanto si oppone all’indirizzo finora seguito su questa delicata materia dalla gran parte della comunità internazionale in ottemperanza alle varie risoluzioni delle Nazioni Unite. Le vicende degli ultimi decenni dimostrano come il problema della «Città santa» e quello riguardante la soluzione del conflitto israelo-palestinese siano strettamente legati e interdipendenti, e questo fatto non può essere ignorato, né tantomeno sottovalutato. Ecco perché La Civiltà Cattolica decide adesso di pubblicare il secondo volume della collana «Accènti» su Gerusalemme (205 pagine), raccogliendo dall’archivio della rivista quindici saggi tra i tanti pubblicati nel tempo. Il volume si compone di quattro parti. La prima parte si sofferma sulla città santa, in tensione tra il suo possibile ruolo di capitale e quello di città aperta. La seconda parte del volume è dedicata al contesto storico-politico. Si apre con un saggio del p. Antonio Messineo scritto nel 1951. La terza parte è dedicata alle visite dei Papi in Terra Santa. La quarta parte del volume è un approfondimento storico e archeologico sulla città di Gerusalemme.
