Recent research on superconductors with high critical temperature has led to results that were not available when the original German edition was prepared but could be included in the present English edition. This concerns materials based on bismuth and thallium, as well as measurements of low microwave loss. The author would like to thank Mr. A. H. Armstrong for translating the book from German to English in a very dedicated and competent manner. Thanks are also due once again to Springer-Verlag for their generous support and cordial cooperation. Bad Salzdetfurth September 1989 Johann H. Rinken Preface to the German Edition The development of materials which lose their electrical resistance when cooled, even before reaching the boiling point of liquid nitrogen, has considerably in creased the interest in superconductor technology, and with it superconductor electronics. This development had not been foreseen when work on the present book started, just over a year ago. Nevertheless, recent results of research on materials with high critical temperature are included to the extent that they seem to be confirmed and to be of interest to superconductor electronics. The present book deals with the physical and technological foundations of superconductor electronics so far as they must be known in order to under stand the principal modes of operation of superconductor electronics components.

Microwave Analysis Of Unconventional Superconductors With Coplanar Resonator Techniques written by Gianluca Ghigo and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-01-29 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book provides a thorough overview of methods and approaches to the experimental characterization of superconductors at microwave frequencies, and includes a detailed description of the two main techniques, both based on the use of coplanar waveguide resonators, that the authors employed to investigate the properties of unconventional superconductors. In the second part several case studies are described, covering a large spectrum of materials and issues. Particular emphasis is given to recent hot topics concerning iron-based superconductors, both of fundamental nature and relevant for applications. The book is intended as a learning tool for researchers in the field, and serves as a guide providing inspiring examples of the use of coplanar resonator techniques to address key topics in the field of unconventional superconductivity.

This undergraduate textbook provides an introduction to the fundamentals of solid state physics, including a description of the key people in the field and the historic context. The book concentrates on the electric and magnetic properties of materials. It is written for students up to the bachelor level in the fields of physics, materials science, and electric engineering. Because of its vivid explanations and its didactic approach, it can also serve as a motivating pre-stage and supporting companion in the study of the established and more detailed textbooks of solid state physics. The textbook is suitable for a quick repetition prior to examinations. This second edition is extended considerably by detailed mathematical treatments in many chapters, as well as extensive coverage of magnetic impurities.

Comprehensive coverage of theory and applications alike Superconductor Technology integrates research efforts from around the world and provides the most comprehensive presentation of superconducting technology available. It covers high- and low-temperature superconductors (HTSC and LTSC) and, while the discussion centers on the more practical HTSC applications (those in the range of 77K), the advantages of LTSC technology in certain circumstances are also explored. Author A. R. Jha examines the implementation of superconducting technology in every conceivable system or device, identifying applications and potential applications in diverse fields, including radio astronomical systems, laser radar, microwave and millimeter-wave missile receivers, satellite communication systems, high-resolution medical equipment, and many more. Complete with numerous illustrations and photographs and fully referenced, Superconductor Technology: Covers theory and practice across a wide range of disciplines Presents critical performance parameters for components, devices, and systems Shows how to integrate HTSC and LTSC technology Describes numerous hardware applications Examines the forms and properties of superconductors Provides the necessary mathematical expressions and derivations Presents performance parameters and experimental data for real-world devices Superconductor Technology is an essential reference for physicists, research scientists, microwave engineers, optical system and communication engineers, and others in a variety of disciplines. Clearly written and well-organized, it is also a compelling and accessible text for undergraduate and graduate students.
