Inhaltsangabe:Problemstellung: Im Bereich des Handels hat sich in den letzten Jahren Wesentliches verändert. Der voranschreitende Prozess der Internationalisierung der Märkte, sowie die Konzentration und Konsolidierung im Handel steigern das Machtpotenzial des Handels gegenüber der Industrie. Eine wachsende Individualisierung der Kundenanforderungen forciert die zunehmende Ausrichtung am Endverbraucher und verdeutlicht die Notwendigkeit von global-präsenter effizient-agierender Logistiknetzwerke. Durch den Einsatz neuer Technologien konnte der Handel auch seine Informationsbasis ausbauen und erreicht - gestützt durch Scannerdaten und Kundeninformationen im Zusammenhang mit Loyalitätsprogrammen - ein umfangreiches Wissen hinsichtlich der Konsumenten. Durch das damit verbundene, wettbewerbsbedingte Streben nach einer Qualitäts- und Führerschaftsposition ( Outpacing-Strategie ) ist, wie neuere empirische Studien zeigen, die Realisierung von Effizienzsteigerungspotenzialen durch Prozessoptimierung und -beschleunigung von höchster Priorität und existenzieller Wichtigkeit. In diesem Zusammenhang fällt besonders die Performance bzw. das Controlling von unternehmens-übergreifenden Supply-Chains im Rahmen eines ganzheitlichen Supply-Chain-Managements (SCM) große Bedeutung zu. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, das Performance-Management entlang der Supply-Chain innerhalb des Handels zu beleuchten und ein entsprechendes, umfassendes Konzept auf Basis bereits bestehender wissenschaftlicher Ansätze herzuleiten. Auf dem Markt bestehende IT-gestützte Supply-Chain-Performance-Management-Systeme werden miteinander verglichen und ihre zugrundeliegenden Konzeptionen dargestellt. Gang der Untersuchung: Die Arbeit zeigt den Status Quo IT-gestützter Supply-Chain-Performance-Management-Systeme im Handel und deren Entwicklungsperspektiven auf. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei in der Markt- bzw. Konkurrenzanalyse bereits bestehender Systeme. Des Weiteren wird ein Katalog von Kennzahlen evaluiert, der wiederspiegelt, welche Kennzahlen der Handel aktuell verwendet und welchen er eine große Bedeutung, auch im Sinne zukünftiger Systeme, zuschreibt. Darüber hinaus werden die Anforderungen der Handelsbranche an ein IT-gestütztes Supply-Chain-Performance-Management-System verdichtet und dargestellt. Der Autor setzt sich mit einem betriebswirtschaftlich ebenso relevanten wie vielschichtigen Thema auseinander. Er stellt die Frage, wie das Modell der Supply Chain in Handelsunternehmen Anwendung finden kann. Im Handel haben sich mehrere spezifische Konzepte entwickelt, die auf eine Optimierung der Beziehung von Handel und Herstellern abzielen und dabei insbesondere Verbesserungen in den Bereichen Logistik und Marketing nutzen. Betriebswirtschaftlich müssen diese Konzepte vor dem Hintergrund einer hohen Relevanz von Netzwerkstrukturen und Kooperationen mit einem spezifischen Instrumentarium unterlegt werden, um Engpässe und Schnittstellen zu erkennen und darüber hinausgehend zu steuern. Der Autor stellt in diesem Zusammenhang auf Portfolio-Konzepte, Ansätze zur unternehmensübergreifenden Prozesskostenrechnung und Kennzahlen ebenso ab wie auf spezifische Scorecard-Lösungen und Ansätze zum Controlling von Unternehmensbeziehungen. Especially the competitive pressure has risen substantially over the past decades, fuelled by an increased globalization of markets and supply chains. In order to continuously satisfy consumer needs in a timely manner, organizations have to focus on performance and efficiency improvement measures. In terms of supply chain management, performance includes the three dimensions efficiency, effectiveness and flexibility which have to be dealt with on an equal basis. One mean to improve supply chain performance is the linkage between various IT applications involved in the whole supply chain. These efforts and trends are treated under the term electronic supply chain management (E-SCM). There are three major critical success factors for the successful operation of an electronic supply chain. These can be clustered into decision motivation (e.g. a shared vision and a strong motivation), implementation process (e.g. the tight integration of inter-organizational information systems and the re-engineering of inter-organizational business processes) and infrastructure conditions (e.g. agreement upon a shared industry standard). There are numerous benefits of an E-SCM implementation such as increased communication speed and decreased cost in terms of communication, inventory and customer service. Furthermore, E-SCM allows mitigating the bullwhip effect by improv-ing the availability of information throughout the entire supply chain. In addition E-SCM allows organizations to implement an entirely pull-based approach. Globalization no longer means simply finding low-cost countries for sourcing, but has involved to include the opportunity for growth in Asia’s emerging domestic markets, specifically China. This development results in extended, truly global supply chains and thus places a higher pressure on working capital. Therefore, several definitions of Supply Chain Management already encompass financial aspects and demand a more integrated consideration of material, information, and financial flows within supply chains. However, more precise theory on “Supply Chain Financing” is understudied and initial implementation of related solutions in industry has only gained momentum during and after the economic and financial crises of 2008 and 2009. In contrast to traditional financial instruments for supply chains – for instance trade finance products which have been around for more than a century – Supply Chain Financing leverages larger and influential members of supply chains. These firms might, for instance, provide easier and cheaper access to financing for smaller supply chain members supporting their profitability through renegotiated and reduced purchasing prices. Echoing recent research results on supply chain risk management, other firms may prefer to take on a supply chain perspective and work on creating agile and resilient supply chains. In this context, Supply Chain Financing can be employed to ensure liquidity for crucial upstream and downstream supply chain partners thereby allowing a firm to effectively control risk while making the most of remaining growth opportunities in emerging markets like China!
