Buku ini selesai ditulis juga didorong oleh hidayah yang diberikan Allah swt kepada penulis. Adapun keinginan penulis menulis buku ini sebenar-nya lahir setelah menyimak ceramah Ustadz Dr. Khalid Basalamah, MA (hafizhahullah) di salah satu chanel telivisi Islam tentang sorga dan neraka dalam kitab yang ditulis oleh Syaikh Wahid bin Abd al-Salam Bali. Ketika beliau menyebutkan judul kitab aslinya “Washf al-Jannah wa al-Nar min Shahih al-Sunnah wa al-Akhbar”, maka penulis berupaya mencari dan menemukan kitab asli tersebut. Setelah penulis menemukan kitab aslinya, maka penulis berkeinginan untuk menerjemahkan sekaligus memberikan syarahan terhadap kandungan kitab tersebut yang penulisannya dimulai sejak tahun 2016. Dalam penulisan buku ini, penulis berupaya memberi-kan penjelasan terhadap ayat ataupun hadis yang mencerita-kan tentang sorga dan neraka. Penjelasan tersebut tidak jarang penulis perkuat dengan ayat-ayat dan hadis Nabi saw lainnya. Dalam kitab asli, penulisan ayat dalam beberapa bagian terkadang tidak utuh, maka dalam buku ini pada beberapa bagian penulis senagaja menuliskannya secara utuh hingga ayat sebelum dan sesudahnya dengan harapan pembaca lebih memahami konteks ayat secara utuh. Adapun dalam penulisan hadis, penulis justru tidak menuliskan lengkap dengan urutan sanadnya seperti yang ada dalam kitab asli dengan tujuan agar pembaca lebih mudah memahami karena langsung kepada teksnya. Selanjutnya, dalam beberapa bagian ayat-ayat maupun hadis-hadis yang cenderung mirip dan terkesan pengulangan walaupun untuk tujuan penguatan, penulis sengaja hanya mengambil dan mencantumkan salah satunya saja yang dianggap paling dekat dengan tema yang dibicarakan. Begitu juga dalam beberapa tema, penulis sengaja menambahkan beberapa ayat dan hadis yang tidak dicantumkan dalam kitab aslinya yang menurut hemat dan pemahaman penulis sendiri sangat cocok dan bisa men-dukung penjelasan tentang tema yang sedang dibicara-kan. Pada beberapa tema dalam buku ini, penulis terkadang tidak menambahkan penjelasan apapun karena sudah penulis anggap cukup atau tidak ditambah disebabkan katerbatasan pengetahuan penulis terkait ayat maupun hadis Nabi saw tentang tema tersebut. Dalam konteks sistematika penulisan, dalam beberapa bagian sengaja penulis mengubah susunan temanya dan diurut menurut kejadian dan peristiwa yang akan terjadi. Termasuk ada beberapa tema yang dalam kitab aslinya dipisahkan, maka penulis menyatukannya dalam satu tema dengan asumsi dimungkinkan untuk dituliskan pada satu tema saja. Begitu juga, penulis sengaja menambahkan beberapa tema dan pembahasan yang tidak terdapat dalam kitab asli, seperti alam barzakh dan hari berbangkit, syafaat al-Quran dan lainnya.
