The third volume in this major cancer series explores the role of the initial diagnostic and staging investigations currently used in the treatment of gynaecological cancer, and their influence on subsequent therapy. The book is mainly intended for the treating clinician who does not have ready access to the diverse literature on such subjects as tumour markers, hormone receptors, cytogenetics, and tumour cloning, and the role of these techniques in the assessment of clinical response to therapy, and in the long-term control of gynaecological cancer.

Influence Of Race Ethnicity And Measures Of Healthcare Access On The Incidence Stage At Diagnosis And Survival Of Rare Gynecologic Cancers In California Women written by Amanda Blithe Hawkins and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014 with categories.

Rare gynecologic cancers represent 3.4% of all cancers of women in the US and may disproportionately affect specific demographic groups due to access to healthcare. In California, the gynecologic cancers that meet the NCI criteria of rare cancer are ovarian, cervical, vulvar, vaginal, and other gynecologic cancers. The influence of race/ethnicity and measures of healthcare access on incidence, risk of late stage at diagnosis, and 5-year cancer site-specific survival rates for all rare gynecologic cancers were examined in the large and racially diverse population of the California Cancer Registry from 1988-2009. Factors of healthcare access were measured by SES, health insurance status, and US-born status. We found that the association between healthcare access and rare gynecologic cancer outcomes varied by cancer site, cancer outcome, race/ethnicity and the particular measure of healthcare access. Proportional incidence of HPV-related cancers were increased for women with low SES, especially NH Whites. Private insurance and US birthplace status decreased proportional incidence by race/ethnicity for all rare gynecologic cancer sites. Risk of late stage at diagnosis for HPV-related cancers varied by measures of healthcare access. Race/ethnicity and insurance status were the most important predictors of ovarian cancer late-stage risk while private insurance was associated with lower risk of late stage at diagnosis for other female genital organ cancers. Cervical and ovarian cancer survival were associated with race/ethnicity, SES and insurance status. The risk of death for all rare gynecologic cancers, except other gynecologic cancers, was reduced for women born outside the US.

Preservation Of Fertility written by Togas Tulandi and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-06-14 with Medical categories.

Many technologies exist for men and women to preserve fertility, and advances are being made all the time. Sadly, this information is not always well known in the oncology community and is, therefore, not presented to all eligible cancer patients. Reflecting the latest advances in the field and offering practical information useful to clinicians and scientists, Preservation of Fertility addresses new concepts, progress in reproductive techniques, novel treatment modalities, pregnancy after cancer treatment, patient care issues, and professional responsibilities. Tulandi and Gosden have assembled an outstanding group of internationally recognized specialists to address the entire spectrum of issues regarding fertility preservation. They begin with a discussion of age and fertility, epidemiology of cancer survival and fertility, and the vulnerability of the reproductive system to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The book includes coverage of methods for preserving fertility, new developments in the laboratory for preserving gametes and gonadal tissue, and the psychosocial, legal, and ethical issues of fertility preservation. A powerful knowledge tool for the medical community, this pioneering book provides a complete understanding of the techniques for preserving fertility.
