“Ellsberg’s writings chronicled his experiences and attitudes on the topic of marine salvage in a manner which has no equal in naval literature.” —War History Online Commander Edward Ellsberg rose to fame after leading the harrowing effort to raise the sunken submarine S-51 just off Long Island. That is where he begins Men Under the Sea, his tribute to and history of the men who risk everything to plunge into the blackness of the deep sea. Ellsberg holds an expert’s knowledge of deep-sea salvage, and that knowledge has put him repeatedly on the front lines of some of the world’s worst wrecks. After the S-51, Ellsberg goes on to the heartrending tale of the sinking of the submarine S-4, which sank after a collision with forty sailors aboard. Commander Ellsberg races to the scene through land, air, and sea to search for potential survivors trapped aboard the sunken sub. Ellsberg also regales readers with stories of some of the most famous underwater missions in history, such as men submerging deep to recover £5 million worth of gold from the wreck of the Laurentic, bringing vast treasures from the ocean bottom, and diving to rescue thirty-three survivors from the stricken submarine Squalus. Ellsberg’s passion, experience, and natural narrative talent turn Men Under the Sea into an unforgettable voyage.

The Sea And Nineteenth Century Anglophone Literary Culture written by Steve Mentz and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-11-18 with Literary Criticism categories.

During the nineteenth century, British and American naval supremacy spanned the globe. The importance of transoceanic shipping and trade to the European-based empire and her rapidly expanding former colony ensured that the ocean became increasingly important to popular literary culture in both nations. This collection of ten essays by expert scholars in transatlantic British and American literatures interrogates the diverse meanings the ocean assumed for writers, readers, and thinkers on both sides of the Atlantic during this period of global exploration and colonial consolidation. The book’s introduction offers three critical lenses through which to read nineteenth-century Anglophone maritime literature: "wet globalization," which returns the ocean to our discourses of the global; "salt aesthetics," which considers how the sea influences artistic culture and aesthetic theory; and "blue ecocriticism," which poses an oceanic challenge to the narrowly terrestrial nature of "green" ecological criticism. The essays employ all three of these lenses to demonstrate the importance of the ocean for the changing shapes of nineteenth-century Anglophone culture and literature. Examining texts from Moby-Dick to the coral flower-books of Victorian Australia, and from Wordsworth’s sea-poetry to the Arctic journals of Charles Francis Hall, this book shows how important and how varied in meaning the ocean was to nineteenth-century Anglophone readers. Scholars of nineteenth-century globalization, the history of aesthetics, and the ecological importance of the ocean will find important scholarship in this volume.

In this book, by the grace of God and through the revelation of the Holy Spirit, God will reveal to you Satans identity. You cannot fight what you cannot see; you must know how to fight your enemy. First we are going to study the history of Satan and why he was cast out of heaven. Then we will study the different elements we battle against found in the book of Ephesians. Lastly, we will encounter the different battle styles or techniques to engage into battle according to your situation. As you read this book I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that deliverance will begin to enter your house, your life and your family; that the fire of God will come upon you. In addition, I pray that God will begin to move in your life in a fresh way. In John 8:32 Jesus says And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free (KJV).

The poems in this book are published in the poet's native language and American English. The collection's theme is wind: The wind is one of the classic four elements, meaning comprehensive movement. It gives us the feeling of space and shows us life's core. For poets, the wind doesn't just mean an element but opens spaces for metaphorical excursions, like in one line of the lovely song "Wind of Change" by The Scorpions when they sing: "The wind of change blows straight into the face of time." This collection features 60 poets from 22 countries and four continents, giving us the idea of the songs from the wind.
