The WOMB is a love story and murder mystery that begins with two lovers, Jerome Bland and Wanda Cummings, both in their early thirties, who are homeless and hooked on drugs. The two decide to get off drugs and clean up their lives by entering a rehab, located in one of the most notoriously dangerous neighborhoods in Washington, D.C., called the WOMB. In the WOMB, the lovers quickly realize their relationship is expressly forbidden. But the intense closeness of the setting increases their longing for one another, so much that when the first opportunity arises, they release their unrequited passion in a furious bout of lovemaking. Found out, and ejected from the program, they go their separate ways, but are eventually reunited by drugs. Their daily struggle to transcend addiction is played out with a murder mystery in the background, a mystery that threatens both their lives and those who were in the program with them. After an attempt on his life, Jerome decides to fight back. What follows is a cat and mouse game that climaxes in one of the most devastating and disastrous events in the history of the Nations Capital.

Why did author King Khan write his thrilling Addict Files series? “I was inspired by my own experience with drug abuse, and the devastation it caused in my life,” he says. “I decided to use my experience to write about addiction in a graphic fashion to take the glamour out of drug use, for all those who think of it as an acceptable form of recreation.” In his second book, The Lottery Winner, Tyrone Moxley is a sheltered graduate student attending Catholic University. He is serious, honest, and principled, with values instilled in him by a loving and close-knit family. Paul Vincent is the opposite of Tyrone. He is a self-serving, narcissistic drug abuser who uses anyone he comes across to satisfy his own selfish and petty desires. He also just won the lottery. This novel about a sheltered young man who crosses the path of a despicable lottery winner exposes the naïve Tyrone to the dark elements of drugs, sex, and murder. It is also about loss of innocence, but is tempered with the redeeming power of love and forgiveness. Set in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, this striking tale also tells the love story of a beautiful young woman looking for her knight in shining armor. Will she find him?

When Good Drugs Go Bad written by Dan Malleck and has been published by UBC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-15 with History categories.

Throughout the 1800s, opium and cocaine could be easily obtained to treat a range of ailments in Canada. Dependency, when it occurred, was considered a matter of personal vice. Near the end of the century, attitudes shifted and access to drugs became more restricted. How did this happen? Dan Malleck examines the conditions that led to Canada’s current drug laws. Drawing on newspaper accounts, medical and pharmacy journals, professional association files, asylum documents, physicians’ case books, and pharmacy records, Malleck demonstrates how a number of social, economic, and cultural forces converged in the early 1900s to influence lawmakers and criminalize addiction. His research exposes how social concerns about drug addiction had less to do with the long pipe and shadowy den than with lobbying by medical professionals, a growing pharmaceutical industry, and concern about the morality and future of the nation.
