In 2017, Ministry of Health figures showed that one in five New Zealanders sought help for a diagnosed mood or anxiety disorder, and these figures are growing. Headlands: New Stories of Anxiety tells the real, messy story behind these statistics &&– what anxiety feels like, what causes it, what helps and what doesn't. These accounts are sometimes raw and confronting, but they all seek to share experiences, remove stigma, offer help or simply shine a light on what anxiety is. The stories in Headlands are told by people from all walks of life: poets, novelists, and journalists, musicians, social workers, and health professionals, and includes new work from Ashleigh Young, Tusiata Avia, Danyl McLauchlan, Selina Tusitala Marsh, Hinemoana Baker and Kirsten McDougall. Edited by journalist Naomi Arnold, Headlands shows that some communities have better access to mental health services than others and it underscores the importance for greater understanding of the condition across the whole of society. It is not a book of solutions nor a self-help guide. Instead, it has been put together for all individuals and whanau affected by anxiety. It's also for those who are still suffering in silence, in the hope they will see themselves reflected in these pages and understand they are not alone.

**All proceeds form the sale of this book will go to Headlands Adventure Centre Trust.**Over the years I have been asked many times to tell the Headlands Story, which I have done in several Churches and many times on Site. I have also been asked to write a book, so after many years and approaching the 30th Anniversary of the founding of the Site, I decided that this was a good time to do it.Headlands Adventure Centre is a sheltered site off the main Salisbury to Ringwood Road in Hampshire with adequate facilities for young people to enjoy a carefree and active holiday. Camping is on a large grassed area by the lakeside (used for canoeing and fishing). There is also a large grassed area for games, and allocated camp fire area.

Sweet Tyranny written by Kathleen Mapes and has been published by University of Illinois Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-10-01 with Political Science categories.

In this innovative grassroots to global study, Kathleen Mapes explores how the sugar beet industry transformed the rural Midwest by introducing large factories, contract farming, and foreign migrant labor. Identifying rural areas as centers for modern American industrialism, Mapes contributes to an ongoing reorientation of labor history from urban factory workers to rural migrant workers. She engages with a full range of individuals, including Midwestern family farmers, industrialists, Eastern European and Mexican immigrants, child laborers, rural reformers, Washington politicos, and colonial interests. Engagingly written, Sweet Tyranny demonstrates that capitalism was not solely a force from above but was influenced by the people below who defended their interests in an ever-expanding imperialist market.
