"Ya soy mayor, paso a Primaria". Esta frase, pronunciada con aires de suficiencia por muchos ni?os cuando finalizan la educaci?n infantil, describe en pocas palabras la significativa evoluci?n que marca la incorporaci?n a la ense?anza obligatoria. Estos "mayores" de tan s?lo seis a?os necesitan la colaboraci?n de profesores y familias para lograr adaptarse con normalidad a todos los cambios que implica la nueva etapa escolar. La Orden que establece el curr?culo de Primaria reconoce la necesidad de una articulaci?n estructurada entre esta etapa y la Infantil. Intenta evitar incoherencias en los planteamientos did?cticos de ambas y pretende que la incorporaci?n de los alumnos a la educaci?n primaria sea "gradual y positiva". El Ministerio de Educaci?n aboga as? por "mecanismos que favorezcan la coordinaci?n entre los proyectos educativos" de los centros que atienden a los menores en diferentes etapas. La transici?n de Infantil a Primaria no debe tomarse con ligereza. "En el primer curso se sientan las bases para el futuro aprendizaje y se adquieren h?bitos y procedimientos de trabajo que resultar?n b?sicos para toda su labor posterior como escolar". En esta etapa, se pasa de ni?o a "estudiante", pero los peque?os mantienen las caracter?sticas psicol?gicas propias de la edad preescolar y requieren, "un tiempo de adaptaci?n que puede durar desde los primeros meses hasta, incluso, todo el curso escolar". ?sta es la raz?n por la que la articulaci?n entre Infantil y Primaria debe desarrollarse de forma progresiva, con una continuidad l?gica y natural, y con la total implicaci?n del maestro. Los cambios que experimenta el ni?o al pasar de una etapa a otra son significativos. Algunos tienen que ver con los m?todos did?cticos y docentes, que conllevan una diferencia en los procedimientos de aprendizaje. La actividad escolar, que antes se caracterizaba por una metodolog?a l?dica y en grupo, se transforma en un trabajo serio e individual. Por otra parte, la asistencia al colegio implica ahora la responsabilidad del estudiante, ya que el profesor se encargar? de evaluar su trabajo, tanto con las actividades que se desarrollan en el aula como con las tareas que el alumno realice en casa. Este ?ltimo aspecto representa otra novedad para el ni?o, que a partir de ahora, en la mayor?a de los casos, tendr? que dedicar parte del tiempo de ocio a cumplir con sus obligaciones como colegial. El curr?culo de las ense?anzas var?a de manera relevante. Durante la educaci?n infantil, el alumno trabaja ?reas como el conocimiento de s? mismo y la autonom?a personal o el conocimiento del entorno. Al incorporarse a Primaria, tendr? un curr?culo estructurado en materias diferenciadas entre s?: educaci?n art?stica, educaci?n f?sica, lengua castellana y literatura, lengua extranjera y matem?ticas. Estas asignaturas se mantendr?n, adem?s, durante toda la etapa. El paso a Primaria implica el cambio de la guarder?a al colegio, aunque es frecuente que las dos etapas se desarrollen en el mismo centro educativo, pero en espacios distintos. Las clases de Infantil suelen estar delimitadas en un ?rea espec?fica y cerrada para favorecer el control de los alumnos. La organizaci?n del aula tambi?n se altera. En la educaci?n inicial, las mesas se unen en grupos para potenciar el trabajo com?n entre los ni?os. Sin embargo, en Primaria la disposici?n en forma de U, por parejas o con pupitres separados potencia el trabajo individual del estudiante y ayuda a captar mejor su atenci?n. Physical inactivity is a key determinant of health across the lifespan. A lack of activity increases the risk of heart disease, colon and breast cancer, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, osteoporosis, anxiety and depression and others diseases. Emerging literature has suggested that in terms of mortality, the global population health burden of physical inactivity approaches that of cigarette smoking. The prevalence and substantial disease risk associated with physical inactivity has been described as a pandemic. The prevalence, health impact, and evidence of changeability all have resulted in calls for action to increase physical activity across the lifespan. In response to the need to find ways to make physical activity a health priority for youth, the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Physical Activity and Physical Education in the School Environment was formed. Its purpose was to review the current status of physical activity and physical education in the school environment, including before, during, and after school, and examine the influences of physical activity and physical education on the short and long term physical, cognitive and brain, and psychosocial health and development of children and adolescents. Educating the Student Body makes recommendations about approaches for strengthening and improving programs and policies for physical activity and physical education in the school environment. This report lays out a set of guiding principles to guide its work on these tasks. These included: recognizing the benefits of instilling life-long physical activity habits in children; the value of using systems thinking in improving physical activity and physical education in the school environment; the recognition of current disparities in opportunities and the need to achieve equity in physical activity and physical education; the importance of considering all types of school environments; the need to take into consideration the diversity of students as recommendations are developed. A style is any pattern we see in a person's way of accomplishing a particular type of task. The "task" of interest in the present context is education-learning and remembering in school and transferring what is learned to the world outside of school. Teachers are expressing some sort of awareness of style when they observe a particular action taken by a particular student and then say something like: "This doesn't surprise me! That's just the way he is. " Observation of a single action cannot reveal a style. One's impres sion of a person's style is abstracted from multiple experiences of the person under similar circumstances. In education, if we understand the styles of individual students, we can often anticipate their perceptions and subsequent behaviors, anticipate their misunderstandings, take ad vantage of their strengths, and avoid (or correct) their weaknesses. These are some of the goals of the present text. In the first chapter, I present an overview of the terminology and research methods used by various authors of the text. Although they differ a bit with regard to meanings ascribed to certain terms or with regard to conclusions drawn from certain types of data, there is none theless considerable agreement, especially when one realizes that they represent three different continents and five different nationalities.
