Paus Fransiskus, sering menyapa pelayan umat melalui homili dalam misa pagi hariannya di Ruang Doa Santa Marta, Vatikan. Pada dasarnya ia mengajak mereka untuk menemukan Allah dalam pelayanan-pelayanan sederhana harian mereka. Dalam langkah-langkah tersebut, para pelayan itu dapat menemukan Tuhan, yang merupakan ‘Pastor Bonus’ (= Gembala Baik) bagi umat paling sederhana sampai pelayan umat yang sering disebut pemuka jemaat. Ungkapan Paus menyiratkan ‘spiritualitas mendalam’ seorang pelayan umat dalam kegiatan harian, yang ‘tampaknya sederhana saja’. Memang, senapas dengan St. Ignatius dari Loyola, para pelayan umat dapat menemukan cinta Allah dalam hidup sehari-hari, sehingga Sang Spiritus menjiwai hidup batinnya. Rangkaian refleksi berikut ingin menyusuri jalan-jalan biasa hidup harian para pelayan umat, supaya dapat mengisi TATA LAYAN UMAT SETEMPAT dengan spirit yang memperkaya refleksi sistematis pastoral, menyuburkan karya, maupun memperdalam hidup rohani umat bersama pelayannya.

Paus menggarisbawahi "asas dasar" Gereja bahwa kita semua "berjalan bersama" dalam Kristus, membangun Paguyuban Umat Beriman. Dengan ajakan itu, Paus membuka Tradisi "Sinodalitas", sebagai cara hidup ecclesial dalam Gereja masa kini. Marilah kita mendalami bersama "sinodalitas" di antara kita. Pada kesempatan ini, mahasiswa dan dosen juga berjalan bersama untuk refleksi eklesiologis.
