Logistic systems constitute one of the cornerstones in the design and control of production systems and the modelling of supply chains. They are key to a number of industries, and courses teaching logistics systems planning and control are becoming more widespread. Introduction to Logistics Systems Planning and Control is the first book to present the quantitative methods necessary for logistics systems management at a level suitable for students of engineering, computer science and management science. It features introductory material on business logistics and covers sales forecasting, inventory management, warehouse design and management, and transport planning and control. Presents a balanced treatment of quantitative methods for logistics systems planning, organization and control. Each topic is illustrated with real examples. Features a number of case studies that show how the methods can be applied to complex logistics problems. Each chapter features an annotated bibliography of key references. Assumes only a basic knowledge of operations researc h. Supported by a Website featuring exercises and teaching material. Introduction to Logistics Systems Planning and Control provides an accessible self-contained introduction to the subject for researchers, practitioners, and students of logistics and supply chain management, in both academia and industry. The book has been developed from courses taught to engineering, computer science and management science undergraduate and graduate students.

This volume contains the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Logic Programming and Nonmonotonic Reasoning (LPNMR 2009), held during September 14–18, 2009 in Potsdam, Germany. LPNMR is a forum for exchanging ideas on declarative logic programming, nonmonotonic reasoning and knowledge representation. The aim of the c- ference is to facilitate interaction between researchers interested in the design and implementation of logic-based programming languages and database s- tems, and researchers who work in the areas of knowledge representation and nonmonotonic reasoning. LPNMR strives to encompass theoretical and expe- mental studies that have led or will lead to the construction of practical systems for declarative programming and knowledge representation. The special theme of LPNMR 2009 was “Applications of Logic Progr- ming and Nonmonotonic Reasoning” in general and “Answer Set Programming (ASP)” in particular. LPNMR 2009 aimed at providing a comprehensive survey of the state of the art of ASP/LPNMR applications. The special theme was re?ected by dedicating an entire dayof the conference to applications. Apart from special sessions devoted to original and signi?cant ASP/LPNMR applications, we solicited contributions providing an overview of existing successful applications of ASP/LPNMR systems. The presentations on applications were accompanied by two panels, one on existing and another on future applications of ASP/LPNMR.

Urban And Maritime Transport Xxvii written by G. Passerini and has been published by WIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-09-01 with Transportation categories.

Better urban transport systems and the need for a healthier environment are continuous requirements that create a fertile atmosphere for original ideas, innovative approaches and applications of advanced technologies, their tests and evaluations in practice. Moreover, there is a growing need for integration with IT systems and applications to improve safety and efficiency. Meanwhile, the substantial growth of maritime shipping has resulted in large transported quantities around the world, creating a demand for innovative solutions for ports and fleets. The apparently parallel topics of Urban Transport and Maritime Transport meet in the transport and environmental management of coastal cities, both being affected positively and negatively by landslide and seaside traffic. Maritime Transport is highly interconnected with rail, road and air services, as well as inland waterways. Each of these must therefore operate complimentary of one another to maximise efficiency and respond rapidly to variable economic and political contingencies. The variety of topics covered in this volume reflects the complex interaction of transport systems with their environment and the need to establish integrated strategies. The goal is to arrive at optimal socio-economic solutions while reducing the negative environmental impacts of transportation systems typically by interdisciplinary approaches.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Symposium on Practical Aspects of Declarative Languages, PADL 2010, held in Madrid, Spain, in January 2010, colocated with POPL 2010, the Symposium on Principles of Programming Languages. The 22 revised full papers presented together with 2 invited talks were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. The volume features original work emphasizing novel applications and implementation techniques for all forms of clarative concepts, including functions, relations, logic, and constraints. The papers address all current aspects of declarative programming; they are organized in topical sections on non-monotonic reasoning - answer set programming, types, parallelism and distribution, code quality assurance, domain specific languages, programming aids, constraints, and tabling - agents.
