Latin American Technopoetics written by Scott Weintraub and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-17 with Literary Criticism categories.

Latin American Technopoetics: Scientific Explorations in New Media analyzes the ways in which poetry and multimedia installations by six prominent poets and artists engage, and in turn are engaged by, scientific discourses. In its innovative readings of contemporary digital media works, Latin American Technopoetics is the first book to investigate the powerful dialogue between recent techno-cultural phenomena, literature, and various scientific fields. This cutting-edge analysis of poetic and artistic experimentation—robots that compose and recite poetry, algorithms that create visualizations of poetic language or of the connections between everyday language and scientific terminology, arrays of multi-dimensional poetic spaces, and telematic and transgenic art—makes a strong case for the increasing viability of a scientific poetics currently gaining prominence in Latin American literary and media studies, digital humanities, and science and technology studies.

The Sound Of Culture written by Louis Chude-Sokei and has been published by Wesleyan University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-12-29 with Literary Criticism categories.

The Sound of Culture explores the histories of race and technology in a world made by slavery, colonialism, and industrialization. Beginning in the late nineteenth century and moving through to the twenty-first, the book argues for the dependent nature of those histories. Looking at American, British, and Caribbean literature, it distills a diverse range of subject matter: minstrelsy, Victorian science fiction, cybertheory, and artificial intelligence. All of these facets, according to Louis Chude-Sokei, are part of a history in which music has been central to the equation that links blacks and machines. As Chude-Sokei shows, science fiction itself has roots in racial anxieties and he traces those anxieties across two centuries and a range of writers and thinkers—from Samuel Butler, Herman Melville, and Edgar Rice Burroughs to Sigmund Freud, William Gibson, and Donna Haraway, to Norbert Weiner, Sylvia Wynter, and Samuel R. Delany.

"Perform these poems! Do it your way!" Peggy C. Hall invites teachers of English, drama, music, art, technology to use these two full-length poetry "shows" (or individual poems) as springboards to innovative, collaborative or solo, interpretations of the spoken word. An overarching theme in each show--the difference/sameness between perception and reality--makes the poems perfect for humorous, somber, electric, moving auditions, duets, ensemble showcases by high school, university, or professional performers. In her "Poet's Preface," Hall briefly outlines the multi-media responses by actors in Miami, FL productions of 2007 and 2008 to the poet's challenge: "Inhale these poems. Exhale your soul."

The Turn Of The Century written by Christian Berg and has been published by Walter de Gruyter this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Modernism (Art) categories.

Rewritten versions of contributions to an international conference held at the University of Antwerp in May 1992. Starting point for the conference was the vagueness of the very terms 'modernism' and 'modernity'. In the first section a group of comparatists address the theoretical and terminological problems of modernism. Practical readings of modernist writers; discussions of different modernist movements; and, the work of critics who have contributed to debates about modernism make up the second section. The third section looks at the problem of modernism from an interartistic and interdisciplinary perspective.
