Pasca proses produksi batik tulis khususnya yang menggunakan bahan-bahan kimia relatif kurang ramah lingkungan. Perajin UD Batik Shalempang (Mitra 1) biasanya langsung membuang air limbah begitu saja ke selokan atau sungai terdekat. Padahal pembuangan limbah batik langsung ke lingkungan tanpa proses pengolahan limbah terlebih dahulu, niscaya dapat mencemari lingkungan sekitarnya yaitu air dan tanah. TTG IPAL batik tulis adalah teknologi baru pengolahan residu proses produksi batik tulis yang bersifat ramah lingkungan di Kecamatan Sampang Kabupaten Sampang. Teknologi ini mampu mengolah residu cair bekas pengolahan produksi batik (air bekas rendaman, air bekas cucian, atau air bekas pewarnaan) yang umumnya menggunakan bahan-bahan kimia, supaya terlebih dahulu ditampung dan selanjutnya diolah oleh IPAL agar mencapai kadar aman, sebelum dibuang oleh perajin ke lingkungan sekitar misalnya ke selokan-selokan atau sungai terdekat. Pada prinsipnya IPAL batik tulis dilaksanakan dengan metode fisika, kimia dan biologi dengan tujuan untuk menurunkan kadar parameter pencemar supaya residu atau limbah yang dihasilkan aman atau bersifat ramah lingkungan. Ada tiga elemen penting pada sistem IPAL batik tulis yaitu pengolahan fisika, pengolahan kimia, dan pengolahan biologi. Sistem pengolahan limbah adalah pengolahan fisika dengan proses sedimentasi, pengolahan kimia dengan proses koagulasi dan flokulasi, pengolahan biologi dengan memanfaatkan bakteri anaerob, serta dilanjutkan dengan pengolahan fisika-kimia dengan adsorbsi arang. Pengolahan limbah secara fisika, kimia, biologi, dan fisika-kimia masing-masing dilakukan di bak sedimentasi, bak koagulasi, bak bakteri anaerob, dan bak filter arang aktif. Bak terakhir adalah bak kontrol yang berfungsi menampung air limbah hasil pengolahan dari bak filter arang aktif. Total ada delapan bak IPAL batik tulis yang diimplementasikan di Mitra 1 antara-lain: tiga buah bak pengendap dan perata aliran limbah kapasitas 6,72 m3, satu buah bak koagulasi berkapasitas 1,80 m3, tiga buah bak absorbsi karbon aktif berkapasitas 5,04 m3, dan satu buah bak kontrol akhir berkapasitas 1,68 m3, sehingga total kapasitas bak IPAL batik tulis adalah 15.24 m3. Air limbah akhir bak kontrol juga dapat dimanfaatkan kembali untuk proses pelorodan atau pencucian kain batik sehingga mampu menghemat air, menyiram tanaman, dan memelihara ikan lele. Keberadaan ikan lele hidup dalam bak kontrol, juga dapat menjadi indikator keamanan air buangan akhir limbah bagi lingkungan.***
