The Deceiver written by Livio Fanzaga and has been published by Sophia this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-02-22 with Religion categories.

Fr. Livio Fanzaga, the Rome-educated, Vatican-endorsed writer and director of Europe's largest Catholic radio network, warns: Efforts to soft-pedal the reality and continuous threat of the devil have left many Catholics "unarmed and unprepared" to resist him. But the question is: How does Satan tempt and deceive us? And how can we see through and resist him? In The Deceiver: Our Daily Struggle with Satan, Fr. Fanzaga confidently guides you through everything the Catechism, Sacred Scripture, and the wisdom of the saints tell us about the wiles and antics of the devil. You'll come to understand why evil exists, and you'll explore real-life examples of how the enemy tempts and ensnares us. The Deceiver masterfully unmasks the devil's seductive plan to create a kingdom of his own in your heart, ruled by pride, sensuality, greed, anger, fear, violence, and destruction. Most importantly, Fr. Fanzaga provides you with the weapons you need to combat the darkness of the enemy and the seven capital vices. "Satan wants to buy you at a cheap price, but Jesus has poured out His blood in order to obtain your soul," reflects the author. These pages correct many of the most common misconceptions about Satan while shedding important light on the end times. They also reveal: The strategy of the evil one in attacking our minds and hearts Why sin is so alluring How we can help - and harm - others on their way to salvation How you can use the light of God to expose evil How to be on constant guard against temptation and Satan's traps The proper roles of repentance and mortification The keys to opening your soul to grace and discernment Fr. Fanzaga warns us in this stunning book: "In a cultural climate that excludes the supernatural, the devil acts without being noticed. In a context of life in which God and His moral law are denied, Satan moves like a fish in water. Souls without light and deprived of the weapons of the holy battle are doomed." The Deceiver will equip you with the weapons you need to defeat Satan while opening your eyes to the miracles of God's healing love as you prepare for eternity.

Punishment And Social Structure written by Otto Kirchheimer and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-09-29 with Social Science categories.

Why are certain methods of punishment adopted or rejected in a given social situation? To what extent is the development of penal methods determined by basic social relations? The answers to these questions are complex, and go well beyond the thesis that institutionalized punishment is simply for the protection of society. While today's punishment of offenders often incorporates aspects of psychology, psychiatry, and sociology, at one time there was a more pronounced difference in criminal punishment based on class and economics. Punishment and Social Structure originated from an article written by Georg Rusche in 1933 entitled "Labor Market and Penal Sanction: Thoughts on the Sociology of Criminal Justice." Originally published in Germany by the Frankfurt Institute of Social Research, this article became the germ of a theory of criminology that laid the groundwork for all subsequent research in this area. Rusche and Kirchheimer look at crime from an historical perspective, and correlate methods of punishment with both temporal cultural values and economic conditions. The authors classify the history of crime into three primary eras: the early Middle Ages, in which penance and fines were the predominant modes of punishment; the later Middle Ages, in which harsh corporal punishment and capital punishment moved to the forefront; and the seventeenth century, in which the prison system was more fully developed. They also discuss more recent forms of penal practice, most notably under the constraints of a fascist state. The majority of the book was translated from German into English, and then reshaped by Rusche's co-author, Otto Kirchheimer, with whom Rusche actually had little discussion. While the main body of Punishment and Social Structure are Rusche's ideas, Kirchheimer was responsible for bringing the book more up-to-date to include the Nazi and fascist era. Punishment and Social Structure is a pioneering work that sets a paradigm for the study of crime and punishment.

Austerity Democracy In Athens written by Monia Cappuccini and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-25 with Social Science categories.

This book, based on an empirical form of narration, outlines a short-medium term analysis of the social impact of austerity politics on urban life.. Set in Exarchia, a radical and anti-authoritarian neighbourhood located within the city centre of Athens, Greece, this is an ethnography examining the social struggles and grassroots mobilizations that emerged locally during the crisis. Based on over two years of fieldwork between November 2012 and early 2014, the author brings together participant observation and a period of research-action in one of Exarchia’s stekia. One particular pedestrian street is used as a case study – ‘Odos Tsamadou’ is located near Exarchia Square and here multiple social centres and political activity converge to allow the neighbourhood’s climate of solidarity and reciprocity to fully emerge. This book is specifically targeted at academics specialized in the social sciences, ethnography, cultural anthropology and urban studies and more generally at anyone interested in contemporary urban and social development.
